Shorts - The struggle is real

These are my faves. But crickey, they've gone up in price since 2016 when I bought them.

These are my absolute favourites as well.
Last so long, got a couple of pairs from CRC years ago and still going strong!

Can I hijack this thread for a slight offshoo? It’s the Farkin way.

Socks. Any recommendations for decent socks that last? I bought some ‘the sock guy’ socks about 8 years ago and they are only now starting to look like they will come apart. I bought another pair of TSG not long ago and they fell apart. Most of my sock end up disintegrating.
I’ve recently found Dharco socks pretty good but any other recommendations?
@Mods should there be a dedicated Sock thread? Yes there is an unintentional pun in there

Defeet socks are my go-to brand. Do you want a cushion foot for roomy shoes or a thin foot for snug shoes?
Most of my Defeet socks are thin foot. My favourites are the double cuff Aireators that give a nice bit of compression with out cutting in too much.
Defeet winter socks are nice and thick, and the woolie boolies obviously have wool in them. A bit toasty for summer, as they are really a winter sock.

I find the Defeet sizing accurate. some models can be tight. One pair of double cuff Aireators has been thrashed, and whilst they look a bit ratty, they have held together well. Stretched a tiny bit, but not loose or saggy by any means, just super comfortable (relatively speaking)

Castelli are good, but tend to be tight. Sizing is Euro stick figure, so 1 size up from what it 'should' be is generally the go. No MTB socks to speak of, unless you are wearing snug XC shoes.

Fox cushion socks are good. can't speak to the longevity though, as only a few rides old. If they don't have 'cushion' in the title, you need to look carefully at the description.
The Fox ranger don't, not the ones I have anyway. 1 pair black & white camo, 1 pair black with a bit of wool in them.

Dharco are comfy and have a cushion foot. I find the cuff band at the top cuts in a bit on my legs. Again, only a few rides old.

Sock Guy - I have one pair of these. not heavily used but I have some wool blend ones that are not too thick and are one of my favourites for cool weather gravel or road rides.

If you can get past the wanker factor I have found the Rapha trail socks to be excellent. Breath well low stink, padding in the right spots also have Woolies boolies mine are 10 odd years old. Quite thick but my go to for warm feet in winter/cold days.

Is the Rapha sizing accurate? Are they tight to get on?

Sizing was bang on. I wear US9 and medium is a good fit. Not hard to get on. Plenty of stretch.
$30 isn't outlandish for decent socks, if you were close to their "Clubhouse" - assuming you can actually buy socks there. $15 postage is a bit rich though, IMO.

Dharcos are comfy but it’s the longevity that is really good. I like a little thickness or support in the sock. Help keep the foot comfortable over rough stuff. Thin little roadie Sox I’ve never liked.
I tend to catch pedals on my socks so figure the less money I spend on them the better, especially with the janky stuff. I also have some nice mountain designs socks in merino if its a cool morning but find they are a bit too thick unless its winter time.

Yes postage is high but if buying with other items not too bad but just after socks then not so good. Clubhouse is roadie focused I think.

Be careful team. I have heaps and love them - but. I have 10+ year old ones and some 3 year old ones. I got 10 pairs from Defeet via Amazon in 2021 are not the same as the old ones. They wore out really quickly. :(

I will be looking at other options next time.

Shame they've gone the way of everything nowadays.

Progress, huh.

I like the Fist socks. Seem to last well so far and comfy for all day rides.

Time to revive this now its getting cold.
Downsizing pants after a good summer season on the bike/fitness wise.
Anything new out that's decent?
Have had dharco before (sold them as I gained covid kgs), also Fox Lightweight ones but the adjustment pull tab through a buckle seem to never stay tight, and now I am looking towards some of the 'Huck The World' Pants as they give a 25% discount if you rip them etc.
Does anyone have any feedback on whats good these days?
Prefer velcro or stable adjusters (anything but the fox type on their cheaper pants) as I am between a 30 and 32.

Some good options to check out. Cheers.
The new post alerted me to your post.
Anyone who prefers a little bit of cushion for MTB should test out my all time favourite socks for anything;

I currently own about 6 pairs and would love to buy 6 more

Do they cut into the leg at the cuff? or is the elastic a bit graduated and forgiving?
I have a pair of Dharco socks which have a good cushion foot, but cut in a bit at the cuff.

They are soft wool, don't really cut in at all like typical cycling/running sock.
There is a mild cuff, but I would say they have a bit of structure around the foot and less as you go up the leg.
