Should a bmx bike chain be tight really tight or loose?

as tight as you can get it so it doesnt slap the chainstays, but with enough play in it so you can still rotate the cranks.

I run mine plenty tight so they don't move when I take my feet off for no foot can's & etc; but I can still pedal and turn the cranks with my hands when needed.

IMO If you can throw a full crank spin with your hands it isn't tight enough. I can throw mine about half a revolution.

All personal preference though.

So that it doesn't touch your frame. That's how I measure my chain tension.

i run it pretty tight but it can wreak the chain if you have it to tight. i have it tight enought to stop the cranks from spinning when you do tailwhips and so on but no tighter.
