see thats where this whole crank length thing is a bit inconclusive..Woah haha. I've ridden with both 175s and 170s and I found both fine. 175s gave more leverage out of gates and berms but obviously, 170s are easier to make smooth. And I have little legs too! (At least you're taller than me ) So basically I haven't helped at all! hehe
Yeah thats the one, got rained out earlier in the year.On the calendar, I should be able to make it. A nice entry back into the race scene.
EDIT: Is that the Macarthur Open?
Maitland track any good? There's an open on the 26th?
good question, RB. cleat location is centred directly in the middle of the ball of my foot, and i wear orthotics in my shoes so my knees track straight. have been noticing that my left knee is swinging out a bit when i'm letting the bike rise beneath me coming up the face of a jump.see thats where this whole crank length thing is a bit inconclusive..
watch the up coming tour de france (I know they wear lycra) and the big rumour is they are dropping down to 160's.
I cant ride 180's on a cruiser. I feel like forrest gump..
Violet... how keen are you on keeping the Funn's? I know where you can get Profiles for $190 inc BB assembly and spindle...
find someone in your area that has a trainer called a "computrainer" and try different crank lengths on that. It will give you an indication of your pedal stroke ratio etc.. and another question... do you clip in? have you looked at your cleat location?
RB
we fiddled with Easy's cleat location as he wears orthotics also to try and get his rotation right. We moved them forward and it made a difference.good question, RB. cleat location is centred directly in the middle of the ball of my foot, and i wear orthotics in my shoes so my knees track straight. have been noticing that my left knee is swinging out a bit when i'm letting the bike rise beneath me coming up the face of a jump.
how do the Profiles rate weight wise against the Funns? the red powdercoat would look good against the matt black Kuwi too, haha that's about as girly as i get would have to change my front sprocket too, which is a given if i change my crank length anyway.
i'm pretty certain after riding those other bikes at Casino that 170's will be the go. i have a set of 175mm Stolen MOB cranks i could try on the Kuwi first, they came off a bike i was going to build up but sold.
don;t have anyone local with a computrainer tho...
Orthotics change everything! I hope your wearing a pair that were made for you and not those shitty generic ones you can buy in a packet!good question, RB. cleat location is centred directly in the middle of the ball of my foot, and i wear orthotics in my shoes so my knees track straight. have been noticing that my left knee is swinging out a bit when i'm letting the bike rise beneath me coming up the face of a jump.

i do a bit of both, ride with/without. mine are heat-moldable ones i bought direct from the supplier, i'm a remedial massage/reflexologist so my training covers a lot to do with feet.I hope your wearing a pair that were made for you and not those shitty generic ones you can buy in a packet!
Deffinatly move your cleats around and try and find a spot that works for you, have you ever ridden clips without the orthotics ?
might have to try that first, my ute's gearbox let go the other day, i'm dreading to think how much it's going t cost me to fix it. not many peeps in Coffs will work on a 1958 Morris Minor.I reckon the profiles would be as light as the Funn's and they look just as nice... possibly try the black cranks with a spider and red chain ring bolts or a red chain ring??
i don't think i'll be riding SoO either, with the torrential rain we've been having, and all the other things going on, i'm starting to feel like i'm pushing the proverbial shite wagon uphill again...State of Origin is beginning to be in doubt for me
175mm shimano cranks... nuff said
Felt not only do you have a very nice bike which earns you points but I agree 100% with your post here big cat!Orthotics change everything! I hope your wearing a pair that were made for you and not those shitty generic ones you can buy in a packet!

On the cranks, profiles are win! worth every dollar and they last forever! I'm on my second pair now, only because i bought to short in the beggining, and their the stiffest things ive ever ridden. They come in at a similar weight to the funn's (off the top of my head) but they're deffinatly worth the money. I wouldnt mind giving the 4 bolt spider a go aswell so i have more choice of chain ring.
Also, who is going to NSW state titles?
Yeah, ours was rather soggy this arvo too, did some pliometric training in between laps to spare the track! Feeling rather sorei don't think i'll be riding SoO either, with the torrential rain we've been having, and all the other things going on, i'm starting to feel like i'm pushing the proverbial shite wagon uphill again...
i'll let you all know what happens about our track maintainence day on this weekend.
But the SLX's are super stiff and sleek too? And not very expensivemmmm yeah they are a nice crank and all.... but I dont think they are any more stiff or lighter than profile...
in my opinion the chunky style of the saints and dxr (which really are just a shiny saint) dont suit clean lines of a race bmx... a bit like having a 2011 race bike with tuffs
For the money, you cant go past SLXYeah, ours was rather soggy this arvo too, did some pliometric training in between laps to spare the track! Feeling rather sore

the frame of my Kuwi is a squared-off taper, so the chunky cranks suit it. but picture red powdercoat....i'd like some subtle bling.in my opinion the chunky style of the saints and dxr (which really are just a shiny saint) dont suit clean lines of a race bmx...
Without the intention of offending or angering you, but your not a podiatrist. not saying you have no idea, but your kidding yourself by wearing those. And before you jump the gun and have a go at me, my brother has been a podiatrist for a number of years. I do not mean to anger or offend you, I'm simply stating my opinion which has been molded by a specialist in the area.i do a bit of both, ride with/without. mine are heat-moldable ones i bought direct from the supplier, i'm a remedial massage/reflexologist so my training covers a lot to do with feet.
WHOAH mega trek! Im still considering it, but its un-likely...Apparently its a 'fun' track from one of the guys at my BMX club. Not very technical though. It's a 5hour drive for me so still contemplating it considering i'll probably sleep in my car over night...
Where is the next state round?Sounds like a bit more then tagging! Looks like I'll be staying in Canberra anyhoo. Next state round I'm there though!
