Bit of rain today for a change. After three weeks away I can't wait to get out and sculpt some more trail for the big one. Each year this loop gets better and better. Make the trip out and ride some old school!

The additional trails this year are well worth the visit. Been riding them lately and cant wait to race.

OOH and real barista coffee on the day thanks to Paul and his team at Le Peche Gourmand. YUM!

And do not forget that the Mars Bar forest will be littered with Mars Bars.

We are going all out this year. Remember the Davey road section?

Don't bother its gone. Replaced with the snakey, twisty, bar banging flowy old skool singletrack known as triple decker.

between the new back gate track and the new front gate track. There is a small section of gravelled road commonly used as a driveway and there is a fair chance that under the shelter known as a carport there will be a compulsory "bacon station"

mmm the salty fatty no kosher goodness that is bacon. The ultimate sporting food.

"We used to have Bob Hope, Johnny Cash and Steve Jobs. Now we have no hope, no cash and no jobs. Please don't let Kevin Bacon die!"

Another good reason to come along to The Brackenbury

Paul, the owner and magic hands behind everything that is Le Peche Gourmand in Creswick, will be on hand for the whole event to offer PROPER coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Paul is also kindly donating all proceeds to the John Curtin Aged Care Facility, to embrace the theme of the day. Thanks Paul.

Four star at the Novotel Forest Resort. Play a round of golf. Home of the Ballarat interwinter and has another 6k of purpose built singletrack round and round and round the course. But the highlight has gotta be all you eat coco pops at the breakfast buffet

Will bogans be an optional extra or a guarantee at Slatey Creek?

Bogans are a fact of life....luckily we race on the other side of the road from Slatey Creek. But if you're concerned, we can always lend you a mullet and a Staffy to blend in.

We have one operative out collecting old VB bottles to mark a trail to the camp site......

Took delivery of 200 Mars bars this morning, in readiness for distribution throughout the single track in the forest on race day. Yum!

As the good man said, we rode the course today and it is all in tip top condition. This is a course that has been improved and improving each year. Today we clocked 22.8 km with some allowances for the temporary closure of St Georges lake/dam at the moment for works. That is about a 60:40 singletrack: double track mix.

We have new singletrack sections bedded in since last year. We have taken out some unloved fireroad sections and replaced them with flowy contouring singletrack. The style is woodend/castlemaine xc trails.

An all bushland loop with historic plantings, native forest, goldfileds track and a heaps of wildlife that starts and finishes 100m from a strip full of cafes! what is not to like.
