Hmmm, after WW1 of which the Kaiser was disposed, Germany went into a whirlwind of diestitute and hunger, repatriations and destitution. I can't bare to think of the millions that starved due to sanctions. Why? Well I shall not digress.....
I'm trying to work out if this is a genuine case of Godwin's law kicking in, or if you've deliberately steered it that way in a valiant attempt to kill off what's rapidly descending into a pissing match.

Given that all I was saying was that high inflation is generally bad, I wasn't even going to bother responding...

Hahaha, just being cheeky. The long-winded arguments seem foolish to me looking at the picture objectively. I see this as just another way to rape the people. I don't care for the parties doing the dosie do, entertaing the people with endless diatribe. I don't see our "leaders" as wise, let alone compassionate, and as for courage? well....

It's not just plain old disillusionment although that holds a good percentage but more so complete mistrust and I haven't seen anything to the contrary

This thread won't be complete until someone rolls out the Laffer curve, misinterprets it and then spams a bunch of links to Von Mises dot org

Sorry.... has always worn red. And just for a fair comparison lets look at Mr's Obama.

The Socialists will say 'reds OK'

Didn't Abbott have red budgie smugglers? Maybe he's a commie double agent trying to bring down the Libs through a complete lack of viable policy alternatives?

I may get schooled on this but prima facie, right now if Mal Turnball ran for PM I'd vote for him.

I barely pay attention at all to domestic politics but out of the little bit that I catch he's about the only one that I can listen to without wanting to kill and endangered species.

Gotta say I'm in agreement Johnny. Beyond Turnbull, there's precious little of any worth in Parlaiment at the present beyond a lot of organs that could be used to save the lives of other folks in need...

I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the clowns kicking around at the moment. Unless something major happens before the next election - it's drawing a wang on the ballot paper for me. :very_drunk:

I am betting that-

QLD Labor gets decimated in the QLD state election, and shortly after federal Labor has a leadership challenge, with Gillard no longer at the lodge.

The worst thing about this is that if Rudd loses the challenge he will be relegated to the back bench and we will end up with a second choice foreign minister.

The Labor Party has been at a loss since the Hawke/Keating years and I can't see it getting any better any time soon.

I reckon he's banking on the fact that even if he loses, he can become the opposition leader in 18months or so when Labor gets rolled at the election.

The ALP have been heavily factionalised since the 1920's/30's when the Catholic Church backed Labor Right set themselves against the Union/Communist/Socialist Labor Left. At it's most base, the current infighting is only because a Coalition Government led by Tony Abbot is in short, unelectable.

If Turnbull was leading the Coalition, Labor would be gone a million. Then again, this situation would probably never have arisen if the Coalition had an electable leader. Hell, I'd even go close to voting for a Turnbull led Government, and I'm a small "L" liberal with heavily socialist leanings!

Although a Labor party led by Greg Combet (as mentioned in another thread) could be a good thing if both Gillard and Rudd get shafted.

I believe that many people share these sentiments. I will vote Liberal, but surly K-Rudd is the lesser of two evils?
