Travelling with a DH bike

Heading overseas with my dh bike. What are peoples opinions on removing the forks when packing it in a bike bag?
Guess the main reason Im asking is being dual crown forks they're a bit more annoying to remove than single crown.

I'd only remove the forks if I couldn't fit the bike into bag/box with them on.

Also this thread would be better placed in the travel section.

If they fit in the box, I'd much rather leave them on myself and just remove the stem (to keep the bars in the right spot without having to fiddle later).
