Had Juicy three's, brilliant. Juicy 5's, also great. Juicy ultimates= nice feel, but after not being used for a few weeks will need a bleed. Takes 20 minutes.
Not so bad.
maybe use some rubbing alcohol to clean up the rotors, maybe switch out to new pads,
did you use the correct DOT brake fluid when you bleed the brakes yourself
Return them and buy the Hope X2's or M4's.... Solid stopping power and hella easy to service, a true win win.
...
i think the easy option is getting a set of the new xt or xtr trails
Interesting how much Avid hate there is here. Bit like Tripadvisor where only people who've had a crappy experience post reviews.....
I've always ridden Avid brakes, and they've never let me down. As with anything, regular, proper cleaning and maintenance is the key. Shimano work extremely well, yes, but they make you very lazy in the maintenance department as they tend to work, work, work then FAIL miserable when you need them. Also, Shimano products, without expection, look shit.
[/QUOTE]Strange then that there is very little in the way of Shimano hate then?
I'm still running a set of XT calipers I bought new in 2003 and they still perform flawlessly. Still to fail. I look after everything well - as you stated "regular, proper cleaning and maintenance" and yet still had countless problems with Avids. If the worst thing you can criticize Shimano for is aesthetics then I don't think you'll win this argument. I'm sure there are some functioning Avids out there that have slipped through but the majority are temperamental dross
... I have had no issues with Avid brakes when they've been looked after as they are supposed to be, that is to say the manufacturers maintenance schedule is maintained.
Oh I wasn't trying to win an argument.
What I am arguing, however,
