i just purchased a maxxis fly weight 26 x 1.50/1.75 tube.
it is going into a schwalbe racing ralph tire that is 26 x 2.25.

i need the next size up tube yeah? the 26 x 1.90/2.125
or can i run the 1.75 safely/successfully?
i imagine not but the bike store sold me the tube
and i was picking up my bike at the time so they knew
what tires i had on the bike. i didn't question it at the time but...

thanks

I would suggest that because it is the "flyweight" model then you may have a much greater risk of pinch flats and / or the valve tearing. At a pinch you could definately use it though - just do not expect it to last. But then again - it may serve you well for just as long as normal. :)

I find ... You tend to need more pressure in the smaller diameter tubes ... as they pinch flat easier (all things being equal) ... but other then that it is also a weight saving trick ... at the risk of punctures.

I aggree with Nerf Herder.

Just run a higher pressure. I just did the Bendigo 6 HR and did not flat once. Team of two. Also Catlemaine. I have hed these tubes in for about 6 months. They're pretty good I reckon.

You've got nothing to worry about, smaller diameter tubes will work fine.
Normally, yes. But the flyweight tubes are 0.45mm thick. Get the larger size tube, if you even manage to inflate the smaller one it won't last long. I've run 1.9/2.125 flyweights for three years and they are good tubes, but the small size on a 2.25 tyre is just a bad idea.

i think i will not run the smaller size and refund to upsize
it when i can next make it back to the bike store.

i have had a fare few pinch flats of late so i would rather
run it a little safer.

thanks for all the advice.
