It's time to come out of hibernation for the Fat Tyre Flyers "Burn the fat!" 6 hour Enduro on Sunday Sept 23rd 2012.:whip:

Round 8 of the Victorian Enduro Series will be at the GWS Anderson Scout Camp in Officer. If coming from the Princes FWY/HWY, turn into Starling Rd which runs onto Dickie Rd. Racing starts at 10:00am and the course will be marked on Saturday for those wanting to check it out early.

Massive improvements have been made to the trail network, including a heap of new bridges and access to new areas for a fun and challenging course that has something for everyone. The Scouts will be catering on the day and there will be a Coffee Van onsite (of course!).

Get your entries in at Entryzone.

Categories available:

Solo: Men, Women, Men 40+
Pairs: Men, Women, Mixed, Junior (mixed or same sex)
Triples: Men, Women, Mixed, Mixed 40+, Junior (mixed or same sex)

Be prepared to be blown away by the track improvements we've made. Videos and GPX files will be up in the next week.

Also, these tracks can be ridden at any time and are only a short trip down the freeway from Melbourne!:high5:

Trail maintenance day this Saturday

There's still a little work that needs doing on a new link track, so we've organised a working bee for this Saturday @ 12:30pm. Directions are in the post above. If anyone has rakes and brush cutters it would make life a little easier.

Then once we're done we can cut a lap on the course for some fun, so bring your bike too!:thumb:

Contact Duncan Rose on 0418 342 349 for any queries.

Can we ride the tracks down there any time on the weekends?..

Thanks.....
Absolutely! Entry is via the Scout camp gate on Dickie Rd, which will be closed, but just lift the bikes over the fence and off you go. None of the trails are marked, but they're not that difficult to find. We have the approval of the Scout camp owners to ride there any time, so no-one will chase you away.

Those photos are rad! Thanks Steve.
No prob. There'll be more photos soon, but it was too dark after our working bee today to go around and take more. Next week I should get down there during the day.

Hi Steve, 3 of us will be doing the race, is it possible to see a profile map of the course, we have never ridden there before, so we don't know what to expect that's all.

cheers in advance

Given that this course will cross into the Beaconsfield Nature Reserve, mapping requires access via gates for which we need the keys. The conservation group in control of the reserve has the keys and has given permission for us (it was their idea) to use the aquaduct trail up to the reservoir wall, across the top of the wall and down at the other end. It is just a matter of getting these keys before we can post a course map and proper profile.

It is coming soon.

In the meantime, this is a partial course profile. Omitted is a large section of flat aquaduct trail and the not so flat heatbreak hill.

Here's my Strava link from the ride after the work today. Ignore the start/finish location.

BYO tent or there's also unpowered and unlit portable cabins.

Bookings are essential.

Contact Rob Armstrong from GWS Anderson Scout Camp on 0411 566 861 for bookings.

State CX champs are on the same day which may be a reason for slightly lower numbers. People do tend to enter these enduro events at the last minute. Hopefully entry numbers will increase!
