Hi All,

Round 4 of the Goldcross Vic state XC series was scheduled for You Yangs on the 14th August, however with park scheduled to re open that week, racing on the trails on opening weekend just isn't going to happen, so we have spoken to the good folk at Central Victorian Rocky Riders, and they have arranged a course at Jubber land for us.

So in short:
What Round 4 Goldcross Victorian State XC series
Where Jubber land - Castlemaine
When Sun 14th August
Who Everyone - Sport through to Elite, Guys and Girls, Dirtmasters, the works.
Entries On the day.

This is happening two weeks before the Cycling Concepts Castlemaine 6 hour enduro - a great opportunity to hve a look at some of the trails that will be used for that.

Racing will return to the You Yangs on the 2st of August for the Third and final Interwinter round. Trav and his crew have been putting in some MAMMOTH hours out at the Youies to get them better than ever and we simply cannot wait to see what they have conjured up! The You Yangs riding simply would not be possible without the effort put in by Trav and his crew, so a massive thanks goes out to those guys.

I can't wait!

Plans are well underway to make this what XC racing what it should be - FUN.

The course will be seven shades of rad, the coffee will be hot and plentiful, there will be racing for all ages and abilities.

GMBC are proud to announce that we will be running kids races on the day, so whole families are encouraged to come and race, right down to the little ones.

The cost for the event is $30 for all classes except the kids, which will be a $5 participation permit.

We are working with Central Victorian Rocky Riders to have a "social ride" after the racing for those who enter, to do a lap of the 6 hour course that will be used 2 weeks later. So if you want a preview of that, then I suggest getting along.

Whats the track like. I've never ridden in Jubbaland, only in the Pines and Baco Trails. Comparable?

Know any kids who would love to ride their bikes?

If you do, then get them along to the GMBC round at Jubberland for a super fun race. The emphasis for the kids is participation. Everybody wins. GMBC and Rocky Riders have always had something for the grommets.

There will be a specific course set for the Dirt Masters.
There will be the following categories, set off in waves:

Dirt Monsters U5
Pedal-less bike. Parent accompanied/assisted

Dirt Master U7 and U9
Bike, BMX or MTB. Parent accompanied.

Dirt Master U11 and U13
MTB. No parental assistance.

The bikes must be in good working order. It doesn't matter if they are Cheapos or Expensos. It is important that they are having fun. It's ok to give the really little ones a helping hand to nurture the confidence.

Any over enthusiastic parents or grumpy commissaires will be fed to the Yowie.

If you know any kids, school mates tell them about this race. We are hoping to get this up and running ad a series next season. See the GMBC or Rocky Riders Website for further details of timings and how to get there.

What more could you want for five bucks?

This just keeps getting better.

As well as racing for everyone from kids to codgers, there will also be a guided social ride of the 6 hour course after the racing is done led by the Rocky Riders crew. The catch? you must enter the state XC race to be able to participate.

So we have lowered the cost, added the kids races to make it more of a family day out, and added the preview of the 6 hour course... Not bad I must say!

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Kids racing underway at 10am, then senior classes off at 10:30.

Rego from 8:30am, practice until 10am.

Must have a number plate on your bike to be on the course at any stage.

We hope to have the Garmin file up shortly with the course details, but have been told it is SWEET!

XC location

Campbells Creek, Fryerstown Rd

Click on this link and then goto " get directions from " and the magic of google will sort you out.

Please remember that this is private land and we only have permission to use this for official club events. We ask you to respect that !

The XC lap will be part of the enduro course ( which bit ? you will have to turn up to find out ) roughly 4.5 kms per lap which is inline which UCI regs for XC racing. There is plenty of fun to be had with most of the course being Singletrack.

is the course flat or hilly? and what the track conditions like at the moment?
cheers
A few short climbs, but overall not a 'hilly' course - plenty of rocks though. The sun has shone for the last couple of days so track is nice and dry. May even be some dust if it stays dry!

It's looking the goods up here, thats for sure.

Dont forget to bring the kids, racing for under 7s and up from 10:00am, the state series grades kick off at 10:30!

The 6 hour course will be the victim of a scoial ride after the race for those that want to check out what theyre in for at the rocky riders 6 hours in a coupe of weeks.

The most important tng to remember is that just because the series is the state xc series, the racing is not beyond you! This is just like club racing, just racing with those from other clubs!

Get on board kids, there are categories for all, rego from 8am, $30 for your entry and $20 for a day licence if required.

Look forward to seeing y'all out here!
