hi,

i'm trying to build up this old wheel with original hub, spokes and rim (so i know it all works together) but i have too much excess spoke to get any tension on the wheel. its a 40h hub and i'm using the 4x pattern. hopefully the pics will help explain. have i made a mistake in lacing the wheel or is it the wrong pattern? any help much appreciated

if its all oringinal was it built with a 3 or 4 cross? for some reason im not seeing a 4 cross pattern if it was..

Also are you sure you started in the right place? that much slack looks likely that you might not of..

if you cant get any tension maybe the spokes you have are too long?

and those vids above arent very good.
i used this guy, much better...:D
that is a good series of vids u posted....the videos i posted were only to lace the wheel as that is what the op is having difficulties with....there are many ways to lace a wheel properly...i do agree with the vids i posted being pretty sketchy looking...lol

Do you know what the length of spokes you have are? (all the same length, Two different, or tree different lengths) - It could be another lacing pattern.
