Well I wasn't sure what the luxurious coat bit meant, so I googled it and got nowhere. Then I went to urban dictionary and am still at a loss. But also a gain! I have learnt the phrase "God's graffiti". As a hairy man, it turns out that I am sporting quite a bit of it.

I actually saw deep purple (or what remained of them at the time) maybe 20 or so years ago with my dad. It was an underwhelming performance.

But that song is a classic! Surely it sends shivers up and down your spine every time you hear that silver hammer ring out???

Just riffing on the poodle thing, don’t mean nothing.
I so wish I could go to all the little gigs these days as mentioned, stuff just gets in the way

Life is crushingly busy.

I just had breakfast with a japanese couple who had their pet dog along for the weekend of snow play. A fluffy cute toy poodle. Of course then I realise what a luxurious coat is!

with all the recent powpow inspo posts... reminded me of this band..
Hokkaido japanese punk band, their songs were over intro/credits of the local snowboarding TV show :)

sadly not many clips up, but this album wa a cracker https://www.discogs.com/release/22434304-Service-Ace-Lots-Of-Luck

Japanese blink 182 vibes.

Am I the only person disappointed to see the dead Kennedys on that festival line up @danncam ? Talk about giving me convenience!

Scorsby (Carribbean Gardens) is an interesting location for a music festival. I guess it's good for those in the eastern suburbs. Could get a ride in at Lysty before you go... :D

Jello left decades ago, would have liked to see them in their original lineup. there's something about old punk bands that doesn't excite me seeing them all these years down the road. give me amyl and the sniffers instead.

True. I think there's been a few festivals there now since the market closed

Kinda wondering what Wheatus are doing on that lineup.
So many questions on the lineup.

We’ve seen Gang of Four a couple of times. Last time was pretty much their last tour I would’ve thought. An ancient Andy Gil trotting out his signature angular guitar sound with 3 20 something studio musos who were bouncing around the stage with all of the youthful enthusiasm. Was fun I guess, but so strange. A couple of weeks later Andy died unfortunately. Fek knows what the band’s going to look like now

That's at least a slight saving of credibility. After all those years of anticorporate rhetoric it would have been a little too hurtful...

I'd have loved to see them (and many other bands) in their glory days. I did see some bands I like in their glory days. For some of them that was a great experience (the prodigy in the boiler room at the big day out for example - before fat of the land). For others it was disappointing or underwhelming (the list is long! But pearl jam on their first tour of Australia, RHCP touring one hot minute, and public enemy in 1998).

I like live music and other live performances, they have an important part to play in keeping our society creative, diverse, and expressive. Without it we are too easily homogenised by our ever decreasing media options. Oh and I work in a live performance venue, so I see it all from fresh and raw local companies/artists/bands/comedians (even a magician last year kicking off his first nation tour to 150 people) through to all sorts of lame nostalgia and big budget theatre. It's good for people to be kicked in the creative part of the brain every now and then.

That was my big miss, got stuck with a random little kid (maybe 10 or 11) after saving him from the middle of the Ministry mosh pit and then taking ages to find his aunty meant I missed the Prodigy at a big day out. Fark me.

Surely as the good Samaritan you should have been showered with miracle repayments? Like the prodigy hosting kick ons in your garage!

We had just finished watching Porno for Pyros. That was also pretty awesome. By contrast the following year the prodigy were out on a main stage and I did not enjoy it.

In a way it's not a bad choice.... It's in a mostly industrial zone, so very few neighbours to piss off on a weekend.
