where EXACTLY to lube chain (leaving off debate on chain cleaning for now)

Do you find the heat of deep frying adversely affects the longevity of the lube? Or that the increased fluidity under heat helps it to penetrate better?

This is a specialised paraffin wax and grease formula that is very hard to get nowadays.

It sets to a grease like state at room temperature. At around 65degrees it becomes liquid. At about 80-90 degrees it begins to "boil". It only takes about 2-3 minutes and then hang to drip off the excess. Once cool I refit the chain and wipe off the excess.

I tend to use normal drip lubes and when I clean the chain and cassette (every 6th ride or so... Once a month on roadie) I then go through this process.

It brings the chain back to a new feeling with the grease right back inside the rollers.

Duckhams is the brand here. But I will be trialling Silkolene Chain Prep soon. Duckhams is no longer commercially available.

"Jarred have you seen my fry pan?"
"Uh, no sorry" says Jarred as he scurries out towards the shed. "Was it Big W or K Mart that had fry pans on sale" he muttered to himself as he fumbled for his car keys.

FFS. Most oil based lubes and waxes in solvents will wick into all the places it needs to go, regardless of how/where you apply the lube. Chains aren't that big or complex. This is a $30 consumable item.

I think Jared is far too old and stubborn to be single.

For the record I have a wife and 3 kids. LOL

This is an old setup from a friend that predates even my moto days. But I am determined to keep using it... My chains last longer and my cassette stays cleaner.
