Not sure for how much, but the bikes at my place all have very good insurance...with almost 25k worth of bike in the house you'd want it!

What damage does insurance actually cover?

What damage does insurance actually cover?
Normal home and contents policies provide very limited cover for expensive bikes (over $800). If you specify your bike on your home and contents policy (which will increase your premium) you might be covered for theft from your home, and on limited occations for theft away from your home. What you more than likely are not covered for under a normal home and contents policy is any damage incurred whilst you actually use your bike, like riding

What you get from a good specialist bicycle insurance policy is cover for theft (like normal home and contents), as well as cover for whatever you use your bike for - riding, crashing, racing, travel, personal accident, theft (away from home)

If you care about your bike - you should care about your insurance!

My bikes are insurance as listed items on my home and contents, and that'd be the way to go, browny_5. Get your parents to list it on their policy.

For three bikes worth upwards of two grand each, my H&C insurer didn't bat an eyelid - no premium, no separate excess (so that's $200 for anything) and the bikes are covered away from home provided they have been secured. I'm with Suncorp.
