Which tyres do you prefer and why

@ozzybmx do you know of anyone using Mezcal front and rear?
Only on my gravel bike. Fckn fast tyres, would be fast on hardpack with little loss on corners if you are riding where I think ;)

Barzo front may be an option if you have one, I ran Barzo/Mezcal XC racing in Summer, Barzo/Barzo in Winter.

Don't really know if it made a difference.

Coomie is the main track, but I don't change tyres so I'm curious about the side load bite. Toying with running them for the Dirty Weekend 24.

I've done Barzo/Mezcal but my Ol' Man brain didn't like the different characteristics. Was thinking Mez/Mez to get around that.

Not upset with the Pirelli's but curious about options.

I’m thinking of going the Barz/Mez combo for the NoosaEnduro 100.

Did the Convict 67 on the weekend on minions, didn’t kill me but I do wonder if some XC tyres would make it more enjoyable.

I like XC tyres for hardpack which we have here for about 8 months a year dont think it affects grip .
Then change wheels so nobbies for winter .
Surprisingly the club blows off the dust with the leaves so never deep dust.
95% of the riders ride nobbies all year with xs tyre pressures. Ha ha

the Convict was not that moist, they hadn't had too much rain, still the minions didn't hurt the confidence for bombing the descents, they just are a bit of a punish on the road sections (10km lead out, 10 km return)
Call it a win if it stayed dry there. I thought it would have been pretty swampy.

I also hate taking nice dirt tyres out on the road. Knowing that those lovely dirt biting knobs getting rounded off on unforgiving bitumen is enough to make you get all teary eyed. Nooooooo................

suggestions for slightly less agressive Enduro tyres?
I was thinking 3CT/EXO+/TR DHF DHR2.
Also trying to not spend $300

Good for a front, other options for a rear could be a Dissector or Aggressor. Possibly even a Forekaster, Rekon or Ardent... Depends how non aggressive you want to go.

Non Maxxis option...

WTB Vigilante front
WTB Trail boss rear

I also recently tried a Kenda Pinner on the front and I liked it quite a lot better than the DHF even though it is a DHF clone. Little bit smaller transitio gap I think

I've put some Forekaster v2s in 2.4 on a lightweight wheelset I built up for my Optic and am pretty happy with them, ran them front and rear at Harcourt the other week and think they'll be good anywhere as a trail tire. Have even been running it on the rear on the wet steeps and loamers at the local Enduro spot and it handles those well too.

I like the aggressor as a rear, pedals well.
2.3?

I tried the 2.5 on the rear and thought it was one of the worst tyres I've ever used! Felt slow AF and the side knobs were super foldy on hardpack. On a 35mm rim though so maybe too wide for them.

Yeah pretty sure it's a 2.3 on a 30mm rim.

I recently made this change on @fjohn860 recommendation and have to say I am glad I did, has not left me wanting, I went 2.6 front & rear on 35mm rims, have been very pleased so far on a variety of trails. Originally the bike came with Minion DHF and Dissector on the rear both 2.6, for me this has been an improvement over the Maxxis, I lost the front end multiple times with the Minion on a variety of trails, so far so good with the WTBs, which my body is grateful for :D

These are out too, maybe I am late to the party but for all those who want some fast rollers
Aspen ST

The Aspen ST is an ultra-low-profile race tire designed primarily for short track XC use. Sometimes referred to as the “Fastpen,” this tire is sure to give any racer an edge in dry conditions.

Wait, wait, are you trying to kill 'Burners? Coz it sounds like you're trying to kill 'Burners.

Even I don't run Aspens!
