Because most of these are just freeride videos with a camelbak and trail helmet on.

Akrigg's trials promo vids aside, one guy is on a SX, a 4" travel slopestyle bike with a 14" seat tube, he isn't riding all mountain on that thing anywhere unless theres a helluva lot of walking involved.
This is no bad thing, but lets face it the guy didn't go out for a 4 hour cross contour trail ride and just find a few stunts and chuck the odd backflip in after grinding uphill in 24/34 for half an hour.

You'd be surprised. Seems that an all mountain video is...watching people do stuff you do every weekend, or watching a thinly veiled freeride segment with lots of brown leaves and camelbaks.

I don't doubt a fair bit of all mountain riding probably happened in proximity to most of the videos, but I reckon theres a fair proportion that were probably all filmed within walking radius of wherever they could shuttle their film equipment and bikes to.

your prolly right re filming ... I don't really mind how they do it ... its the image in my head when I'm riding my AM that wins the prize anyway.

Some people like to categorise, others don't, so if your saying AM is just, trail riding, is just XC, is just riding a bike, then fine for you, but its different for me and I'm sure it is different for the many others that are enjoying these vids.

*shrugs ...

BTW, this is one reason I didn't think it was worth having an all mountain section ... since it has been created, I've been called old, washed up, and now ... how I ride my rig or the videos I've liked is something else ... shoulda just kept it as General MTB save a whole bunch of name calling and unwanted critique.

I just think an 'all mountain' video would really be average people doing average things. I don't imagine theres many people out on their 6" AM bikes for a trailride chucking backflips in reality.
