the american colors are the same as Australian, one's, so as long as there were no stars and stripes we could just pretend they were a Special Australian Edition. :D

yeah, we're a bit weird like that, i should have said our *flag* colors are the same as the yanks. I'm not really sure where green and gold originally came from, probably to be different to the Brits and the USA.

A quick google tells me that:

"Colors: Three different color combinations were long commonly thought of as Australia's national colors: red, white and blue; blue and gold; and green and gold. Red, white and blue were featured in the first coat of arms of the Commonwealth in 1908 and are the colors of Australia's national flag. Green and gold (center) were commonly accepted as the national colors in sporting events even before Federation. Green and gold (yellow) were proclaimed Australia’s national colors on April 19, 1984."

So there you go, learn something new every day. :D i've got way too much spare time...
