yes there is and some nice times around there as well .... fastest being 12:51, smoking time, looks like 15 minutes gets you into the top 10. Hmmmm a challenge for you jim. The guy who's quickest has some pretty fast times all around the place, so a pretty serious racer - who idles along until he hits a segment. !!!

Han's Loop STRAVA
I can confirm Scott is a bloody quick rider at the pointy of end of most fields, certainly at or very near elite class. No shame being beaten by him :)

Was out riding the YT last night and saw quite a few people on mtbs hanging at water fountain near the "Banksia flats MTB loop" around 7ish - was in a bit of a rush so waved hello and then took off for a quick lap. After finishing my lap, the group was still there so I said a quick "hi and bye" before continuing on my ride - hope I didn't come across as too rude :)

That one has a very interesting segment name!
:):)good challenge however. It's a bit slow through beat area, once out of there it's pretty much go until burke gate. I'm just reacquainting myself with the lines through the loop, amazing how it's changed in last few years.

I'll have to give that a more serious go next time I am out that way. I think we tend to stop half way and regroup before going off again. I wonder if we can yell "strava segment" as an excuse not to stop :)

Does that time include the overgrown bit near the dirtjumps down near Burke rd? Where the roundup got sprayed a week or two ago?

no you turn off to the trail on the right (it heads into about 4 nice sweeping bends, then right and up to gate), found that the other trail was too overgrown and a bit snakey. now that it's sprayed might have a look.

Is "stop to chat " a euphimism for activities that go on near there?

Out early this am , trails in great nick !

The trails are great fun at the moment aren't they C? :)

Sitting behind a desk can be pretty frustrating on days like these...

That is correct Casnell, that fountain is a gay beat and groups of young men and women hang around there dressed as MTBers to try and attract a mate. Depending on the colour of your jersey and the brand of bike you ride indicates to others what you are in to and what you are willing to offer (services).
So a guy in a red jersey with a Specialised bike is looking for something quick and easy and doesnt mind giving or receiving and a rider in a black jersey and Kona bike is looking to dominate their potential mate (so giving only).
For a full run down on colours / brands / and service combinations offered please look in the third male toliet cubical at the car park @ Banyual Flats Recreational Reserve. So if you are not looking for servicing it is important to simply wave and keep moving. It is best not to talk to other MTBers as their reason for being there might be different to yours. The people hanging at that fountain quite often dont realise that people are actually MTBing and not prowling so view all cyclists as potential conquests.
Rookie mistake Casnell - now you know.

A mythical Yarra Trails creature often sighted in bright "man-pink" cycling attire, (rumored to originate from a Richmond based retail outlet). The TR boy is often riding bikes that cost as much a new Kia. :)
Oh I see exactly what you mean now

No, that's innacurate. If the Kona rider is carrying a moustache they're more likely to have an expanded repertoire, enjoying the "rougher trails".

Giant riders will just go with the better deal regardless of give/receive.
