This wont be your average bushcare day, we want every abled body to come down and give a hand! We want to see Mountain bikers, friends and families in the hundreds, this may be an exageration but you get the idea.
NPWS, BMORC & WSMTB are joining forces to obliterate a section of Lantana that often impedes on the Mountain Bike track and blocks a fantastic view of the Nepean River. The most essential part is to slow the spread of Lantana infestation any further south.

This will be the day the Mountain Bikers striked back!!! I dont think I can stress enough that this is the day of days to make an attendance. This invite goes out to our friends in the East on the Northern Beaches and west on the tablelands. Our friends up North and our friends down south.
NPWS has been given funding from the Catchment Management Authorities to run two bush regen days for the Mountain Bikers and the money must be spent by June.
This program will coincide with the final open Yellomundee Aboriginal Community Workshop in which members of the Mountain Bike Community may give input into the management directions report before submittal. The final report will aid direction for the future management of the Mountain Bike trail network and ongoing management of Cultural Heritage for the area.

Why is this important for riders.

As with all things in life you have to "give to get".
Volunteer participation is a key component and payoff in the engagement with Land Managers and owners. aside from the many hands make light work aspect associated with a deep volunteer pool. Volunteers provide Land Managers with:
i) The ability to better utilise their stretched or scarce resources (eg, rangers)

ii) Provides communication channels and points of contact for both riders and land managers (eg, trail sections are getting smashed by ground water and a trail care day needs to be organised both the repair and potentially identify better re-routing opportunities, that could add to the enjoyment of the trail whilst also reducing our impact to the area ... win/win)

iii) Provides Educational opportunities
- Workshops on Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Plant ID, Soil Erosion minimisation, Sustainable Trail design and Construction techniques, Weed reduction and treatment and countless other topics could be run for those interested, both for our benefit to take with us elsewhere and to build closer links with the peoples and the lands we pass through.

iv) A strong rider turn out sends a message and strengthens the local clubs advocacy efforts aimed at trail conversion, establishment of a regular trail care program all of which makes the trail more enjoyable, attract more users and potentially more funding, maybe even for other riding opportunities, like an ALL Mountain Track ... just to name some possibilities.

We also empower the local club to better negotiate with the powers that be to enhance our riding opportunities.

Short term pain, long term gain ... so the more riders that freely and willingly give up their time the faster we all get the job done and the more we can all ride, maybe even in all weather conditions.

Hope to see you there.

The one job that is better in the rain other than drainage construction. Easier to pull the suckers out and less dust and itch down the neck. Glasses a must to avoid eye injury.
