You...umm...you know the stem's on upside down, yeah?
Hahahaha yeah I noticed. It has either 7° rise or -7°, I wanted positive rise so the graphics are upside down. Stooopid roadies.
In other news my wheels arrived. This build is the first time I have bought from ze Germans. Usually I get stuff from CRC, but their options and pricing seems to be slipping. Finding out that ze Germans don't charge you the 19% VAT if you live outside the EU has changed my life!
Wheels are:
DT Swiss 240 centrelock hubs
Stans Notubes Crest Mk3 rims
Sapim CX Ray bladed spokes
DT Swiss alloy nipples
The weight gave me a nice surprise. I was expecting them to be heavier than my previous Light Bicycle carbon wheels, but they are actually 65g lighter. These puppies came in at 1409g, with rim tape installed. Proper weight weenie territory. I think at my weight, the carbon rims I've had previously were wasted on me. I'm just not heavy enough for flex to be a limiting factor in my riding, so I thought I would try the new Crest rims.
The service from R2 bike is impressive. The wheels arrived with a wheel bag, signed build certificate, warranty and crash replacement policy. They even included some spare spokes.
I have removed the stickers off the rims, exclusively for aesthetic reasons, but it did save an extra 10g. That'll make a big difference.
Looking like this whip will be well under the 10kg mark, and still Thredbo AM track ready for summer.
