Was hot out riding with the kid. Got to the start of the oaks and couldnt get a drop out of hydration pack. Much colourfully documented investigation ensued.

Today i learned an osprey pack has a twist to lock mouthpiece. Ive had this pack about 4 years.
Was riding the other month with my camelbak - couldn’t get water out - pulled it completely apart checked hoses everything - found the off switch in the mouth pice never used it in 10 year on any pack :)

Got a new rear wheel a while back, and (tldr) must have cross threaded a brand new cassette body when fitting it the first time. Felt tight, and rode ok. But two rides in, noticed a rattle in the rear somewhere. Took me 20 minutes to find it was play in the large cassette sprockets.

Much diagnosing and googling ensued. Checking the damn cassette for a missing spacer. Telling myself this hub must be unique in needing an extra spacer even for 11sp. Even went into the LBS without the wheel on a whim and (made a fool of myself) asked for a spacer from the local mech - who told me I didn't need one.

Eventually started comparing it to my other rear wheel, and realised the locking doesn't engage very far... Of course. Fucker is cross threaded. Probably stuffed to the point of needing a new body I figured. So might as well do what I can.

Not having any sort of tap that size to try and clean up the threads (not that it would probably help much with the bearings in the way) I figured I'd hack at it. Can't make it worse right? Eventually macgyvered it with a file and a knife, straightening the threads enough to get it on tight.

All from my dopey ham fisted cross threading when I first installed the bugger.

Love a bit of toxic avenger but by god Troma have released some shite. Worst move I’ve ever seen is Blood sucking freaks. I can forgive bad movies but that piece of shit has no redeeming features. Made by some man child as an ode to misogyny. And done badly.
Bringing back memories now. I’m of the vintage of 5for $5 vids from the video store. Always mostly horror splatter themed and always a couple of the lucky dip $1 who the fuck knows vids.
Yeah Troma. There was some weird and rotten shit amongst that catalog.

To make you feel a bit better, my brand spanking CarbonTi free-wheel needs a spacer. WTF. Took twenty minutes of searching the shed to find something I haven't used in years.

Are you sure this is the right thread?

Whilst not a Troma film, Eight legged freaks is a much better movie, IMO :D

I pulled apart a Hope hub to replace the bearings recently. I have put the little 2mm spacer (that goes between the freehub and the hub bearing) somewhere so safe I can't find it.

I assume these come in a range of sizes, which one would suit most/all common bike screw threads?
You need to buy the thread file with the correct 'thread pitch' for your repair, they generally come in imperial and metric thread pitches. Most people that don't deal with thread pitches on a daily basis will most likely need a thread pitch gauge.

They do come in a few different physical sizes but generally one size does a large range of sizes in diameters of internal and external threads. The thread files don't normally cover specialised or strange threads but there's usually something on there that can get you out of trouble. It's only for minor repairs, if the thread is really hacked you'll still need a tap and die set or a helicoil set at the worst.

You pick the right pitch and file away. OD doesn't matter. Thread form is governed by pitch, talking metric threads so it doesn't matter if the thread is M6x1 or M600x1. Imperial is more or less the same but based on threads per inch (tpi). Be careful though because the included angle of metric and various imperial threads are not the same. For example metric is 60deg while whitworth from memory is 55deg.

Edit: Flow beat me to it.

There's films produced by Troma and films distibuted by Troma. Hit and misses with both but there is more misses with the films they only distribute.
Check out Poultrygeist.
