Absolutely, they do stuff on 70°ha XC bikes that we wouldn't even think of doing on any bike. Skills are through the roof.
Saying that, they choose XC but most of them can win a DH or Enduro race on their days off.

That's a lot like me. I'd struggle not to come dead last in an XC race, but I'm pretty confident I could still bring that level of performance to an Enduro or DH race too.

eeb mate, you are a prime candidate ! Riding a bike for enjoyment, not having a lot of time to get fit, get an eeb and your riding life opens back up to a different level.

Lol, I have plenty of time to get fit - I'm just lazy.
If/once the Pinion eebs become a bit more common down the track I'd possibly consider one for the reasons you mention, but I still have more "analog" riding left in me before I swap to the eebside.
