Hi All,
Been out of the scene for a while and want to get my bike ready for Spring. Looking for recommendations for bike servicing in Melbourne (SE Suburbs preferred). Really looking for someone who specialises in mountain bikes and can service forks and shocks preferably in store.
Thoughts?
A line from one of my favourite movies Platoon wouldn't be out of place there;
"Shut up and take the pain! Take the pain!"
Bad off but with the amount of groaning I was expecting to see he had lost an arm or something.
This has got more drama than Gone with the Wind!
I didn't think there was much in this when I first saw the vid but now that all the facts are coming out......... That last line in your race report Ben sure says it all "Sorry mate but I'm on a mission out there". Very telling.
For the last few months I've been storing my bikes upside down on a table in the garage - mainly so the kids don't pull one over onto a car. I just noticed though that the forks on one are leaking a bit of oil. I've never had the forks on this bike serviced and I bought it new in 2007 so I guess...
My wife calls me a weather nerd because I spend way too much time looking at weatherzone and I gotta say the radar at the moment looks uggggggggggly. I just hope it drops most of it's rain in SA and you don't get too much there.
Regardless for all the newbies make sure you take some good mud...
Is that mud on her tyres? I think she's been cheating on you buddy.
Where did you get Katrina from? I call my bike lots of names particularly when I fall off it.
I think it's only a matter of time before you will need to pay to ride at Lysterfield. I suspect you will need to pay a day entry fee like in some other National Parks or purchase a yearly pass. With the numbers of cyclists and bushwalkers using the area it's inevitable. The government sadly...
Just read that media release - 140,000 cyclists annually use Lysterfield? That's over 2500 per week. That's a truck load. I recently moved away from Melbourne but rode Lysty most weekends since 2007. The deterioration of the trails in that time was considerable. I've been really happy to read...
I'm heading up to Coffs for a few days R & R. Can anyone give me a run down on the condition of the trails - in particular Pine Creek. I rode there about 18 months ago and the place had just been decimated by a heap of rain.
Also is Pine Creek the best riding up there or should I try...
Could not agree more.
Propogate - I'm sure it will be much better this year as they've had 12 months to work on the course/trails. Any weekend where you can get away, visit a new place that you haven't been before and enjoy a ride with like minded people is a good experience.
If you are doing a lap and a bit more at Lysty (30kms) plus on a weekly basis you'll probably be OK fitness wise to get through the 45km. I only had time to ride once a week before the last Nemisis and finished OK. I certainly walked my share of those hills though.
I did the 45km last year with 2 other mates. We all came away saying that we would not be doing it again. It was a nice long dirt road climb on the way up the range followed by a few firetrails. It then just turned to shite in my books. The most ridiculous powdery descents into valleys and then...
I didn't like the 50 last year - I found the first 25ks frustrating having to walk alot of the climbs mainly due to the amount of people who were also walking & the last section through the grass trees (Casper Black?) was just tedious. The only thing good about it when it was Apollo Bay to...
I rode Ourimbah today (only the 2nd time I've ridden there after being based in Melbourne for the last 10 years) and had a blast! That place rocks. Would have to be the best trail that I've ridden. Got me thinking though - what's the best XC trail in Oz? If there's something better than Ourimbah...
Absolutely fantastic idea. I was up there a few weeks back riding Lake Mountain and commented to mates how great it would be to have a trail all the way down to Marysville. It would be a cracking ride. Good luck with it and keep us informed.
I've got a 2009 Trek 9 and it's a great bike. Climbs well, descends better. Just a great bike to ride long distances on. If you want a bike that you can ride all day the Fuel is terrific. Just recently though I've been wondering if a 4 inch bike would be better suited to the riding I do. I've...
