The car would have to be mod plated for the change to non-turbo and then again when you want to put the turbo back on, so as all others have said, a silly thing to do.

What rings you choose will depend on what range cassette you run and the areas that you ride in. For a more all round ride then I use 29/42 with an 11/34 cassette and also a 29/38 with an 11/34 on the heavier bike. I think your cranks will force you to pick only a certain range of rings though.

And the best front shifter for the 2 x 9 setup is the Sram X9 or X0 twist shifter with micro adjust.
