XC & ROAD - Mark's Chinese Carbon Builds

Mate, can I ask where you bought the Superstar chain guide? I'd like to get one for my rig. Did you get it directly from the UK, or did you manage to find one locally? Cheers, and nice build btw.

    Post your 29er!

Thought I'd post up a couple of updated pictures of my bike. Owned this for about 2 years now, have recently upgraded the fork and wheelset. Best bike I've owned, love riding it. Running it 1 x 9 with an X9 medium cage rear mech. Also running Thomson post, collar and stem with FSA carbon...

road bike build - from scratch

Tmarsh, as others have said great thread, I've really enjoyed reading this and seeing your bike build come together. This is exactly the sort of bike I'd like to have in my stable for those crappy wet weather commutes. Thanks for going to the trouble of posting all of the photos and keeping...

    carbon 2013 porn

Hot damn. That Element is sweet. Saw a Vertex 990 in Taylor Cycles the other day. If I had a disposable $6K I think it would be my new bike. Constantly amazed by the new technologies. My bike is only 3 years old, but now seemingly uses an outdated headtube design and front and rear hub...

    Post your Roadie

The Focus looks fantastic, definitely one of the sharpest looking bikes at the TDU trade expo last week. How do they ride?

That's just a beautiful looking bike. Well done on the build WLewis, hope she is a treat to ride on the singletrack.

    Stevens SLR Build Thread

Nice looking bike mate, but it deserves a better set of tyres. I understand you are trying to save money here and there, but tyres are not the place to do it. Suggest you upgrade to GP4000s, Schwalbe Ultremo DD or similar - $40-50 per tyre on CRC or PBK. Lighter, more grip, better puncture...

Nice Niner yabbapalooza, I like the reliable no-nonsense build. Was wondering how a white Reba would look on a raw Niner frame....the answer is shit hot. Where did I put that credit card?

    29er Tyre Thread

The conversion process has got the better of me this weekend. Mounted and aired up my old Schwalbe RR's on the front wheel last night, but the tyre had some cuts in the sidewall and leaked sealant a fair bit, even with all the shaking of the tyre to help seal the bead. I was surprised though...

    29er Tyre Thread

Hoping someone could give me a couple of pointers. I purchased some Bontrager strips and valves today, and a bottle of Stan's sealant, and was planning to give the tubeless conversion on my Blunt wheelset a go tonight. Going to use my current Racing Ralph Evo's for now, and get some Maxxis...

New wheelset for 29er. Crank brothers Cobalt? Feedback wanted...

I'd be looking at a set of Hope Pro II Evo hubs on Stans Arch rims, you can buy the rims and hubs from CRC atm for about $450ish. Factor in about $200-250 to have the wheels locally built, and I dare say they would cane a proprietary wheelset such as the Crank Bros Cobalt. My 2 cents at least.

    29er Tyre Thread

A quick question for some tech savvy members of the 29er fraternity. Currently run 2.25 Racing Ralph Evo's F+R with tubes, would like to give this tubeless business a try. Do I need to ditch my current tyres, and buy some of the "snakeskin" equivalent, or can the Evo tyres be used on a...

Giant Anthem X 29er - See first post for info

Anyone know of a shop in or around Brisbane that will stock the Bontrager Rhythm 29er strips and valve stems? Would like to convert my Velocity Blunt wheelset, and I've read the conversion is most successful with the Bontrager parts. Can't believe this thread has reached 120 pages! Cheers.

not another which bike thread! (roubaix SL2 v Pinarello FP2 v Trek 3.1)

Longer wheelbase will generally equate to more stability, particularly at higher speeds. I think for the riding you will be doing, either of those bikes will serve you well. I think it will ultimately come down to which one you prefer the feel of, make sure you get demo rides on each of the...

    Santa Cruz 29er carbon hardtail

That bike makes me feel kinda funny.....like when I used to climb the rope in Gym class.

First post!!! And help needed with a BIG decision

The Tallboy is an awesome frame (statement based solely on what others have said, and a very brief demo ride), and you have listed a very impressive build. It's about 10 times the bike you need for the riding you have described you will do on it, but if you like it, buy it.

    niner one9 sizing

FWIW, back in my 26er days, I rode a L Spesh Epic (615mm ETT). I now ride L Niner Air 9 with a 100mm 0 degree stem and it feels perfect. I would get the L if I was you. I am 183cm. Cheers.

    Post your 29er!

Sick looking ride. I like the black and red colour scheme, it looks very fast. I know there is no other practical solution (other than jersey pocket), but a frame mounted pump just doesn't belong on a bike that fine.
