Cheers JD. Where are you getting Geax tyres from?

G_T Yeh I've got the alloy frame - as a big guy I don't buy carbon frames (lets not go there).
I've seen that Chris C post. Many posters in that thread have reported issues amongst the tyres listed - ie they do fit but with insufficient clearance for winter riding.

I am anally retentive and didn't want to have Schwalbe on the front and something else on the rear!
Looks like I might have to until my HD wears out but its going to cause me distress.

jimspr - not heard of that - will check for one. Still doesn't deal with the clearance problem.
Geax from Fitzroy Rev but for the dry
Go with an ardent ust over winter. No one will mind if your tyres arent matching

^^^ thanks.
I'm liking the sound of a Geax Sturdy up front and Saguro in the rear.
The Sturdy is very Hans Dampf like!
Have contacted them re sizing and availability as not much info on the website.

I'm running a Rubena combo (Kratos/Scylla) on my crests and I'm in love
Perfect blend of grip from the dual compound and light at 600g for full tubeless.
They sponsor a lot of races and I'll be racing on them for a long time.
Everyday tyres are tubeless ardents.

i know this is a bit of a noob question but if you roll off a tyre running a tubeless setup are you able to just pump the tyre back up or will you need to re seal it with the sealant ??

Depends how tight the particular tyre bead / rim interface is. Always carry a spare tube even if running tubeless.

mate i think you might be out of luck. If racing ralphs are too squirmy, you will hate the rocket rons and Nobby nics. In the dry i swear by Geax Sagaruo front and rear. I will be running a Hans D on the front and will try a Maxxis Ardent 2.25 LUST up the rear. You might find Specialised Captain 2.2 a good size but you will have to get over your OCD (different brands) or change from Schwalbes.
I am your weight and find NN, RR just too squishy, Continental too narrow and dont seal tubeless well, Maxxis just arent cool anymore, Specialised are great (not sworks for fat bastards) and Geax just right.
JD - what rims are you running with the Geax Sagaruo? I was looking at them a while back but seem to remember reading a whole heap of comments that they were either too hard to get on the rim or didn't seal properly (can't remember which one it was and it is too late to do a search now!!). I am running Stans Arch rims and have used Specialized 2bliss tyres (Captain, Fast Trak, Renegade) and I have been pretty happy with them but I want to go for something a bit wider and I like the look of the Geax but I don't want to get them only to find that they won't go onto the Stans rims.

Cheers,

Gags

Big tyres for the big guy!

Following advice from here I received this combo in the mail today.
A bit on the weighty side but so am I!

I'm liking the look of the Sturdy front and Saguro rear.

Put the scales away JD and get a purgatory ground control combo. Or did you hate the purgatory when you had one? What about the montain king - whats your take on that one as I never tried it?
