Hey guys and gals i need your opinion on these 3 different rims.
i weigh 72kgs and currently doing drops from 15 ft(2 storey house) to DH and 6 ft to flat and wanting to go bigger.
I am definettely building one of these rims on an aireal hub and DT spokes for the rear
so whats you opinon on:
Intense Mag 30
Mavic D321
Atomlab DHR
any info would be much appreicated

a) I hope you've seen this http://www.farkin.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7621 :)
b) The Mag30 and 321 are both great rims, personally I wouldn't go for a DHR because they're "one third stronger than an Aircorp", however my experience with Aircorps leads me to believe that one third stronger than nothing is still nothing. You'd be happy with the Mag30 or the 321 IMO, the Mag is arguably slightly stronger (and heavier), it really comes down to what you can get cheaper.

there aya go socket i done it i changed my description to be more along the lines of Rik's post.
i heard that on the mag 30 the welding is shit and it cracks.
i think $130 for intense mag 30
D321 $100(i think)

and how much is the DHR, cos i have been told they are stronger than trailpimps

and Steve Peat helped design them

ok-
1.intense mag 30s are strong but are twice as heavy as atomlab dhrs.
2. i have folded 2 321s and flatspotted all of them too...
3. Atomlabs look way cooler and i found that they are lighter than 321s, and stronger- they stay better in true and don't flatspot.

I weigh 110kilos and abuse the shit out of my wheels- but i still like light rims. DHRs have been perfect for me and i would recommend them to anyone. i would stay as far from the mavics as you can (if you must get one- get a 521) and stay away from the intense unless you wat to carry around heaps of extra weight...

I have had 321's for the past year.
I'm 110kg and far from smooth.
I do a lot or urban and 3-5 foot drops to flat everyday.
Both wheels have had one trip to the truing stand and that was due to loose spokes. I can not comment on the others, as I haven't used them.
Daver, I think you must had got a dud, or I have a magic pair.
Good luck.

Mag30 - 640g
http://www.atomlab.com/
DHR - 700g

Now, given that Atomlabs actually quotes a HIGHER weight for the DHR than Mag30s, how is it exactly that the Mag30s are "twice as heavy"? I'm sure that Sun's listed weight isn't accurate, but even allowing 10% diff, it's still gonna be about the same as the DHR... at most.

Oh and http://www.mavic.com/servlet/srt/mavic/vtt-prod_fiche?product.id=81&lg=uk
729s (renamed 321s for 2004) are listed as 675g, so I find your claims of uber-light-weight for the DHRs to be pretty rich. I have been told on reasonable authority that the Mavic listed weights are pretty accurate.

I remember in one of the hundreds of rim choice threads someone had all these quotes from sponsored riders by atomlab saying that they arent very good. Though i could just be thinking wrong lol.

You're not thinking wrong, check out http://www.dropmachine.com/reviews/aircorp.shtml and see what a sponsored rider (dunno if he was technically sponsored, or just supported [Grip :p] but either way) has to say about the Aircorps. Now if that isn't an honest review, what is!

are you sure socket? have u seen the 729(1?)'s in person? they dont look anything like the 321's....
721s are the rebadged 521s, or the 04 equivalent at least. I don't know if they're *identical*, but they are basically the equivalent I think. 729s are the equivalent of 321s, have a look at http://www.mavic.com/servlet/srt/mavic/vtt-prod_fiche?product.id=81&lg=uk , looks very much like a 321 profile to me, but then again you can't see much there.
