Advice on staring competitive downhill racing in Vic

Hi all, I'm chasing some advice on starting racing dh in vic. I used to ride a lot of downhill a few years ago but never competition. I'm 29 which I know is probably getting old in the world of downhill, just need to get the heart pumping again and want to start racing. I live in langwarrin near the Morington penisula

Just wondering what clubs should I look at joining that run good club events and suggestions and what my first race should be? Club events? Vic series in a lower class?

Any advise would be really helpful Cheers.

If you aren't aiming to win the world championships, I say ride socially and to test yourself. Above all else, ride to enjoy what you're doing, without that then riding is pointless. ;)

Where i Vic? King of Ballarat series starts next month. Very well run, low key, fun events. I'm even considering coming out of DH retirement and throwing a leg over my 10yo DH bike there. I'm 43, FWIW.

http://vdhs.com.au/ is where you want to go. Its the best run series in the country.....period!
For an alternative as well, try out the second best series in the country http://www.alpinegravity.net/ Ben holds some seriously fun events in Victoria.

Clubs:
Try Red Hill Riders on for size....I hear it's a really good club to join. http://www.redhillriders.com.au/

The King of Ballarat series is a lot of fun, nothing serious but you have to push your bike back up. I'm allergic to that! Moorey on a DH bike....I think I'd pay money to see that.:photo:

That could be anybody Moorey, I'm not paying for that. :spy:

I reckon it was more likely a scenic photo judging by the focal point but some donut had to come along in a bad yellow outfit and spoil it.

Good info, like the OP I'm 29, never raced before and interested in having a crack but not knowing where to begin. I think we can even race in the veterans class which might even up the competition a bit for older beginners too?

There is a beginners/novice group in the VDHS. Sport is a pretty good group for new riders to enter as well. I started racing in sport all the guys in the group were awesome. Really good vibe.
