Buying bike parts from overseas, shipping time estimates and methods ?

Update, it has landed in Melbourne!
Hit Frankfurt on the 31st and seven days later it is in Melb. Fingers crossed it will be here early/mid next week. :p

Should update this Bike 24 order.
Ordered 23rd May
Shipped 29th May
Frankfurt 31st May
Melbourne 6th June
Arrived 12th June.
Total time 20 days from ordering to delivery (14 business days - 1 public holiday)

Shipping note says current status is:

We, 30.10.2024, 19:22 The shipment will be transported to the destination country/destination area and, from there, handed over to the delivery organization.

Can't tell if this means that the package is still in the Frankfurt airport retardis, or on its way to Aus.

Well, it was the same day as I actually made the order, so it made it from the seller's warehouse in Germany, to the Frankfurt Retardis. (maybe the Bike Discount warehouse is at Frankfurt airport as well??)

Does it say Frankfurt or Rodgau ? Definitely still on German soil, mine is in Rodgau so it hasn't even made Frankys Hanger yet.

Usually when its in the Air, an Aus tracking number appears on the DHL track page.

the DHL tracking doesn't say 'frankfurt', but when I plug the DE consignment # into the Auspost tracking, it does. 🤔o_O

My unjustifiable purchase from Germany was going so well rapidly bouncing from city to city in DHL tracking, but now it has hit the Frankfurt treacle and all momentum has completely ceased.

I'll aim to expect it to arrive within the next 3-6 years.

I bought a cd recently from Italy and was stoked to see it slowly make its way across Europe to Frankfurt. Via Amsterdam strangely.

It seems that the Frankfurt Retardis absorbs everything. 2 weeks for my stuff so far.

Meanwhile I'm ordering chainrings off Aliexpress and they are getting here in 7 days with free postage. It's mind blowing how the Germans have managed to shoot themselves in the foot with their stupid (slow + expensive) postage/shipping. C'mon guys you were the second largest exporting nation not that long ago and you didn't think to get the "exporting" part of it dialed???

Obviously they are not too worried as clearly people are still happy enough to wait for a parcel that sits at an airport for weeks to save some cash.
