Canberra DH

We pulled several fallen trees off the track which took four guys quite a bit to do, there was a huge one we couldn't move which would need a saw or an axe. The track isn't trashed and we rode around the bits that are mid-construction. I think everyone is old enough to know when it is ok to ride a track and when it's not. If riding it would have ruined lips of jumps etc, we would have skipped that track.

no comment really, but i recall people were trying to legalize track A or get a legal track built close by? has that gone anywhere? i dont even bother riding stromlo DH anymore. The rocks and water gullies are a death trap.

well i know no skid marks does a lot of trail work in my area and in canberra. i was at said trail that day 12 months ago as i was driving the troopy and we were invited up to ride for the day from the snowy mtns area.we also met some of the crew who were putting in the time and effort to make that trail and they didnt want to see it posted over the net, and i know what its like to have your trail ruined by people not thinking. why cant we all just get along what about the kids noboby thinks about the kids. and since that day ive now got mad troopy driving skills

Wow, another shit fight on rotorburn... Who'd a thunk it.

I deleted my first reply as I was trying to avoid this nonsense.

But what it did say, was pretty much along the line of nickz. We left that track in better shape than when we got there.

And as someone else pointed out, no directions to tracks have been released, nor will they. Canberra is a big town, you'll need more details than "canberra" to find this track.

No skid marks,
As its been said, you've ridden this track on the same day as us before in the wet.

Now, back to the matter at hand...
hope you like my vid:D

My last post on the matter, you guys do what you want with it, and therefore the DH scene in Oz.
My first post was just pointing out that ridding tracks when they're wet damages them. I had no idea how wet it was or who you were(doesn't matter). At 1min and 115, you can clearly see you guys skidding down the track, wet or dry this is bad practice for tracks, but you have to do what you have to do. Perhaps ride easier tracks until you have more skill. If you can't see doing a 15 meter + skid down one of the steepest tracks in Oz as very damaging, and you won't take anyones opinion then so be it. I'm not the police, I'd just like to see more respect for peoples work.
Secondly was me addressing the location in the title. It encourages curiosity, and straight away somebody did mention it's location, and I asked them to remove it and they did. I see no need for posting any level of detail on a tracks location, and I think it's rude posting footage of an illegal track that you've had no input into(sorry but moving fallen trees so you can ride it doesn't count IMO). and I did notice damage to the bottom jump, and other parts at the bottom, but I only went to the double jumps and step down.
It's not my property, and not even my track. The points made were not specifically about this track, but as what I feel a respectful attitude to riding other peoples hard work.
As stated, the first track is lucky to exist, but is not legal, and CORC etc seem powerless to make it an official track, very heavily due to a youtube video of it.
I simply asked a simple question at the start. and made an observed comment that I still agree with. But good work clearing trees so you could ride it. Shame the trail faeries hadn't been there before you.

I have to say that Rod, like Judd, Nik, Blake and myself all respect trail building and the fact that there are fantastic trails out there. The track in question is a clear favourite for many, and none of us would ever trash it or use and abuse it. We love the thing. In hindsight the day we rode it last year would have hammered the track much more than what a few guys riding it did recently, especially in terms of the numbers riding the track in extremely wet conditions. If it was damaging, we would have pulled the pin and headed elsewhere. I don't think this is a shitfight, its guys people making sure the track was not ruined, which it certainly wasn't. FYI next guys riding it may need a saw or axe as there is a tree across the track that needs cutting. I'm very grateful for this track.

Seems like a case of internet misunderstanding, the internet is good for that. I just wanted to make a simple point at the beginning to encourage people to have good track etiquette.

for what it's worth, i tend to side with your opinions no skid marks; problem is you're fighting the tide mate. everyone wants to document everything they do these days and tell the world about it. you just got to do what i do - no TV, no credit card, car runs on vegetable oil, no phone (post only), no camera (just a diary), very basic internet connection for watching porn, but no email, and i'm so careful of my most favourite track becoming over-ridden that i have to ride it only alone.
