Good luck De-soldering the old button from the main board without some expensive soldering gear (and skill)

If replacing the cmos battery fixed it. Then it's as fred the sped described. The BIOS must of been corrupted somehow preventing POST from running.

De-solder using a solder "sucker" or wire braid, both from jaycar around $10.

A decent soldering iron station starts around $100, don't waste your money on cheap crap. For small intricate stiff like circuit boards I set mine to around 450C.

YouTube it, it ain't rocket science.

Not to get into a stupid soldering debate but De-soldering laptop intricate electronics is alot harder then normal gear. And impossible for a newbie
