This is a very common thing unfortunately, the Joplin seems to have some inherent design flaws with excessive sideways movement one of them!

My 3 month old Joplin 4 has play, around 2mm at the nose of the saddle.
I recently saw a 4 year old Joplin with a fraction more than this.
Dont sweat it, you dont notice it at all when riding, maybe if I had a choice as to what dropper post I could choose then I might have gone elsewhere but as the Joplin came standard I am not about to swap it out.

One last thing...
DROPPER SEAT POSTS RULE!!!
If any one out there has ever considered getting one DO IT!

My new Joplin 4 has a litle play but thats just how the system works, out of the 5 or 6 I've worked on and a couple others my friends have on their bikes there is a bit of difference out of the factory but unless its causing you problems when your riding or its getting worse then don't worry about it. There is a couple of machines keyways on the shaft with a screw in guide, if the guide is too tight it will wear prematurely if its a little loose its not so much of a problem as long as it stays well lubed.
