Does anyone know much about these planned trails and what to expect?
I only heard about them this past weekend, apparently 60km of trails, some of which were going to be used for the now aborted Comm Games.
Slated to open Dec 2024 so hopefully they are still on track and it's another venue within 1.5 hours of Melbourne to ride at. Handy that it appears accessible by train as well

I follow these guys on Instagram for updates:

The trails are almost done. They were going to open all at completion (estimated to be the end of this year), but now there is talk of staged openings. Partially to let people enjoy them, partially to have a presence to deter the bogans from illegally cutting down trees and vandalizing the place.

Where would be the best place to park?
Hammon Park would be your best bet. There are plenty of car parking spots, as well as dunnies, bike cleaning station and the pump track to warm up on.

You could also park at St George's lake. (Dunnies there too)

Either way you will need to pedal out to the open trails.

Looking to head out there Wednesday all going well. Happy to catch up if any Burners are around.

Get on it peeps, there is plenty of fun to be had.

There are some soft spots that need bedding in and dry weather.
It's about a 2.6km pedal to the top of the gravity trails. The uphill trail is wide and gradual.

The bike wash facility will be making a killing this weekend.

Don't forget to grab some grub from Le Peche Gourmand or the bakery afterwards.

I'm hoping to check out the Wood Coupe trails on Wednesday.

Mr Canary and I went for a ride at the Wood Coupe trail section today. They were really fun. A good mix of descending flow, a bit of tech and fairly gradual climbs with only a few pinch "put the power down" bits and switchbacks.

There is still plenty more to explore, but we had to leave as the eldest child started spewing at the grandparent's place. That was a fun drive home... luckily we were sent home with a bucket!

I almost accidentally headed into some of those on the last visit. Will be hitting them up next visit though.

All up the gravity zone was pretty good.

The only let down was some of the jumps on G9 were very weird, almost like they were built backwards. Very steep and kicky landings that are very short. Built bizarrely and kill any flow on what would be a good trail otherwise.

I wouldn't know, I usually keep my tyres on the ground 😅

W7 has vibes of "Follow the Dog" at Forrest.
W2 has some cool rocky technical bits.

Next time I'm going to check out the Cosgroves area. I'm hoping they have retained some of the original hand cut trails.

Went out there today to ride the gravity section. Agree the jumps on G9 were a little weird for the speed you carry. Was funny riding up the climb and hearing everyone yell out on the 2nd jump after overclearing it haha.

Loved the short 10min climb up and runs are short enough that you don't end up cooked half way down. Some proper steep machine built flow which was super fun. Couple of more natural trails down the far end including a loamy blue (G6) and G5 black which even has a massive road gap.
G2 black flow jump trail was pretty huge and also had a road gap. Huge well formed jumps that you weren't constantly over clearing like on G9.

Creswick MTB Park road gap. G5 TRAIL
