Broke my collarbone and need suggestions of surgeons you have had good experience with.

Preferably north/south/east sides of Metro Melbourne

Bugger mate - I feel your pain! Did mine almost 2 years ago and had it plated. I'm in Sydney so can't offer any recommendations other than to go with an upper limb specialist. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I assume you're going with private cover?
I'll ask around my Melb contacts.

Can I ask what you did exactly? It's more common to treat conservatively these days with a sling, unless there's major displacement of the fracture or shortening in excess of 1.5-2cm and no contact between the fragments from both xray angles. Guessing you've done a solid number, so pics would be more than welcome!

wasnt a clean break still a bit attached. i just want it refixed so it heals in a natural position and for a quicker and more comfortable recovery

Pat Byrne in SE Melbourne. Highly recommended. I'll be asking a mate who did his and got work on his shoulder. Very good outcome and is back on the bike sooner than he'd hoped.

Definitely recommend him. He did my Daughter's shoulder. I met him personally and my wife who worked at the hospital knows him too.

Just heard from one mate and he strongly recommends Prof Tron Tran. He is the top orthopaedic surgeon for Monash Health, has a private practice out of St Johns in Berwick. Can’t recommend highly enough apparently .

I went with Eden Raleigh (Richmond, Box Hill, Blackburn, Lilydale) on recommendation of my Physio and mate who is a GP.

He was excellent but does a lot of footballers so can be difficult to get into this time of year.

Don’t sweat it. Mine was left to set with 1” overlap, a huge lump, and a pointy sharp end sticking straight up, and it’s never caused me any iss....actually, scrap that. Get a good ortho.

the ER doctor did recommend conservative treatment but i'm impatient so i'm all for surgery. if anything i'll be able to resume sleeping properly afterwards without the bone clicking around
