First test ride with the Insta360 X4, interesting keyframe stuff going on, it records 360° the whole way, you get to pick what the video sees with keyframes. Shot in 8K/30 with 2 lenses, each in 4K, the finished video is 4K single shot.

Funny that it makes 820mm bars look like 660's and my arms like Chris Froome, everything stretched out.

Keyframe it on Insta Studio, export it as a 4K vid and do the editing on my usual video editing program. Dead easy.

Running auto settings so far, will have a look at YT and play with the settings in the next few weeks.

To be honest, it doesn't look as good as GoPro so far, I have a bit of settings stuff to do before I get it smooth and crisp. Considering it it shoots a literal 360° globe, it looks good but just need to work the Keyframe shots out.

The 360 cameras have there place, I just find they exaggerate the terrain a bit much due to the wide angles for MTB.

They do, but not so much fish eye. They also show steepness and speed but the crisp GoPro picture is not there yet.

Hoping I can get it thereabouts, a fair ask when you think what it captures.

I think they excel with hikers and things like surfing with the selfie stick.

Well, the delicate lens on my Insta360 X4 was stopping me using it as often as I wanted and the size was also an issue. Its a great camera and took awesome shots but its not an 'action cam' for strapping to yourself or the bike and flying down a hill.

The new DJI Action 5 Pro is getting released any time from today, rumoured as the 28/8 onwards and the Hero 13 + Hero are due for sale on the 16th Sept.

Listed my Insta360 for sale at midday today and it was picked up by a wedding photographer 4 hrs later for doing behind the scenes shots... a safe idea for that camera.

Will be watching the new small 'Hero' very carefully as well as the black and Action 5 Pro over the next couple of weeks, then buying one of them. If the small Hero does 4K 60/120 and has good stability, it may be just what I am after as I dont need 5.3k.

GoPro just did a sneak mistake - not mistake release on Amazon... probably just to stop people jumping on the Action 5 released around 2 weeks earlier

Looked at the newer one, the Action 4 when it came out, ended up with the Hero 11 which I sold 3 months ago to buy this Insta360

Will be going with the smaller Hero 13 I reckon. The idea of a smaller-well performing camera is more appealing after the experience with the bigger 360.

This would suit me quite well, provided the mic won't pick me up huffing up the hills and swearing when I inevitably pick a shit line.

Hold out !!!!

The little hero looks good but I like 4k 60, the 30fps can be a little bit jumpy.

At least hold till the YT masses review the Hero 13 vs Hero.

DJI Osmo action 5 Pro is about to drop.

Also Insta360 Ace Pro 2, heavier that the Osmo and GoPro but uses dual AI instead of 10bit colour.

I'm currently camera-less and leaning towards the Osmo if leaks are correct.

DJI Action 5 pro released last night. The low light has smashed the new Hero 13 out of the ballpark

Insta360 Ace Pro 2 looks to be beginning of October. It will arguably be the best of the lot but its a bigger unit and heaviest by a long way.
