Yep I've just converted the 3x xt shifter I bought for $10. Much cheaper than buying the dedicated actuator!

Oooh. Which shifter, which damper? Like, any Shimano 3x shifter and the 3-pos remote adaptor, or are we talking on-off lockout only?

Just got an X Fusion Manic which comes with a POS lever, gunna do this today

There is a way to do it without cutting the lever off. I've done this many times, but never took photos. Theres a little rivet and a plate that have to come out in order to remove the other shift lever. Once you do this, it's an awesome looking mod. I can do them in around 15 mins with the extra faffing about the removal makes. If I can find an old front shifter, I'll post some pics up..
