Music Video Review??

Ok I've just watched a article on ACA on music videos. It has sent me wild.
Since when should I have a 12 year old tell me that music videos are too raunchy for t.v. I mean this kid in 3 years time is going to regret his every word. I'm sorry i'm just pretty pissed off at people who more than likely get their kids to do the whinging on T.V rather than themselves because it will affect more people. The mother just looked like she was happy to be on T.V. Then made some stupid response that made no sense.

I agree that music videos are a bit sexual these days, but by jingo since when have 12 and 8 year old kids even known what sexual really means. I think their are 1000 other things that people should be worried about removing before music videos.

That's my rant. I'm just rather annoyed at the moment.

What are your thoughts on this, i'm quite interested to here everyones thoughts.

Now they have a program with nudity on straight after ACA. Channel Nine hypocrites or what??

But I'm also a whinger I realise this, but I can't help it. It's something I do.

You don't watch ACA for news!!!!!! cringe.

I don't watch ACA so cant comment but as for todays music videos -

Once upon a time metal/hard rock videos where shocking for there treatment / exploitation of the female figure. After a flick though some music channels and suffering through the current crop of top 40 songs, well rap/r&b win hands down when it comes to that same exploitation. Really Van Halen videos don't come close to measuring up.

Time and time again it's a bunch of fat fully clothed guys surrounded by a bevy of nearly naked beautiful women. This is all aimed at the teenage market, what type of message is this sending to todays youth.

As a parent of young kids, I really do have a problem with the direction of todays music vids. Man I sound so f#$king old fashioned.......

Anyway of you want a rant, I'll get my wife to respond......

I remember buying a Hot4s magazine a while back and in the comments section some kid wrote there was too much 'porn' in them and that they should take all the chicks out. AND THEY DID! Bloody hell, half the reason you buy the magazine is to see the chicks rubbing up against the cars.

And this kid was 14! Makes you wonder...

You'd be surprised, I honestly reckon that most girls in the past 2 - 3 years don't even make it to 15, a lot of times 14 with their virginity, its insane. And its getting worse, everyones doing/learning things younger and younger, I know a guy who didn't even make it to 12 with his virginity intact.

And nah, I'm not saying it has anything to do with music videos - just making the point that most 12 year olds these days are learning exactly what sex is...

And this kid was 14! Makes you wonder...
Hmm, that does make me wonder. What kind of a fucked up 14 year old isn't interested in pictures of half naked gurls

Things sure have changed since I was 12 anyway.
I think the only thing I most probably was thinking about at twelve was hitting the DJ's and playing in the next piano comp.

If this is the way things are going.

Garrath I agree especially Rap music and the pop crap those women musicians are singing these days. It just seems like an excuse to flaunt themselves at any given chance.

Ha, why else did you think women pop-music artists are so successful?

Sure as hell ain't their singing that gets them there ;)

please dont stop caring. the next generation is doomed to this prescribed shit otherwise.

i'd rather eat hot coals then watch the slime they show on 'video hits' or " a current affair".

its such a sad world. it really, really is.

Used to be cool.
Firstly, ACA is shithouse - and you should literally be embarressed to watch it.

Secondly - music videos that are very sexual often also present fairly sexist values, with the women being there as merely eye-candy. as much as I like eye-candy, if women are not expected to be more thah that we'll be going backwards pretty fast.

I watch very little music video TV because I hate it - the hosts are always dickheads who appear arrogant and ignorant, as well as simple minded. They shit me to tears, presenting values I, in some cases, strongly dissagree with.

Just turn off the fucking TV altogether and volunteer with Vinnies or something. That or lock it to Lateline and Cycling Central.

Firstly ACA has got to be better than Home and Away.

It is not only women that they were making the argument about, as if you look at half the female singers clips you have got fellas near naked on there as well.

I don't watch much music T.V myself same as you the hosts shit me up the wall. I watch cycling central quite a bit more than ACA thankfully. I just happened to be watching it tonight and caught this article.

Watch the evening news closely, take note of TV advertising and spend some time looking at the sports section of your daily papers. Browse beyong the magazines you usually buy (you may not have too) and you will realise that our media is still predominantly patriarchal. Women still have to battle against the media driven dominant ideology. My girlfriend ( English Education graduate) has persuaded me over time that indeed the media driven dominant ideology that women are second to men still exists, just in a far more subtle and sophisticated medium than media 30 years ago.

Does anyone seriously believe that Gwen Steffani is applauded for her musical talent? Or many of the male R+B, Hip Hop, and Gangsta etc.

How to make money by Hamsta
1. Get implants or get buffed up
2. Borrow some bling bling
3. Get some cosmetic surgery
4. Starve and/ or work out
5. Provide sexual favours for industry vultures
6. Get an agent
7. Get a crew to vouch for your years plugging away to get a break (excuse the bad pun) or your dysfunctional upbringing
8. Do some crazy stuff and make No Idea etc
9. Hook up with 'well respected' producers
10. Endorse products
11. Repeat steps 1 to 10.

Well, I saw the ad for ACA last night and it had that kid saying that music videos are too sexual, etc. I think it's completely obvious that he was spoon fed those comments, either by his mum or ACA. Last time I checked, a 12 year old is too immature to use those sort of words of their own accord, and in a few years he'll probably regret that he ever said that.
I think that music videos these days are nothing about the music, they are all just showing off flesh. If todays hip hop/rap, dance/techno and pop artists were really talented or had any values then they wouldn't make videos like we see today, which are used solely to promote their album/song, as their voice alone isn't going to do it. Also, songs these days are reflecting the carefree nature of society regarding relationships and sex.
Look at Delta Goodrem for example, has an amazing voice and what appears to be high standards, and think about her video clips. Then look at Paris Hilton or The Pussy Cat Dolls, shocking voices and what appears to be a bunch of strippers dancing around with their own background music, what are their video clips like?
Anyway all the kids are getting into this terrible techno and dance "music" which opens them up to this stuff at such a young age. As 'Alec McJo' stated, kids are doing everything younger, smoking, drinking, having sex, doing drugs and all with underage dance party's, society's carefree nature, etc fueling that.
I don't think that the music videos are directly responsible for this. It's the parents' role to look after their kids. If they don't have enough authority to tell their kids to turn off that garbage or tell them that they aren't going out to party's at 13 and 14, then there is something wrong.
The times they are a'changing. But definitely for the worse.

Haha, I didn't actually watch the article cause I hate the show but I just realised that if he's 12 - he'll be going into high school end of holidays.

When the senior School gets a hold of him, hes already gonna be regretting it :D

Oh and Pussy Cat Dolls - sadly the lead singer of that group actually CAN sing. The only reason she prances around like a slut and sings about sex is because sex sells, nobody gives a shit whether you can sing or not these days.
