Not sure if it’s the ones with the safety chain and pin setup or the ones on most recently.Even then I'd be concerned about their safety
Sounds pretty promising for the Park.Mystic Under New Management | Bright bike park to be run by the same folks as Maydena
Mystic Bike Park has been through a tumultuous couple of years, facing closure on multiple occasions. First because the bike park was unable to meet keyflowmountainbike.com
Yeah, I certainly like this idea, rewards are always good for a trail day:Sounds pretty promising for the Park.
And the streamlining of costs, as it is an expensive exercise, especially with limited accomodation in the Bright area, that seems to have seasonal pricing especially in school holidays. They also want to ramp up volunteer trail building, as it was the genesis of Mystic. There has always been an appetite for it in Bright, but it has become more difficult with some of the new management models.
“We have said we will run some training courses and get volunteers out there and then reward them with access and uplifts and other things — similar to what we do at Maydena. We’re really keen to build that community again,” he says
“We’ve definitely said that we will hold the day pass costs the same as a worst-case scenario, and we’re looking at options to make the membership more effective. We’re looking at options where we can streamline family memberships, bundle things up, and make it a bit simpler and hopefully cheaper to ride,” he says. “There is no escaping that it costs a lot (to run a bike park), and we are proposing a lot more trails than what’s there at the moment.”
....
“Ultimately, we’re trying to provide the best riding experience, and that’s not a cheap thing to do. But, we do need to make it as cost-effective as possible because we don’t want to exclude people because they can’t afford to ride at Mystic — that’s not good for anyone,” he says.
I wonder how many places world wide have chairlifts only for mtbiking not for skiing as well ?For $15 million they could put in a chairlift.... time to get the raffles and cake stalls going!
Pretty sure I've ridden them all... the only lift serviced bike park I've ridden is Thredbo.I wonder how many places world wide have chairlifts only for mtbiking not for skiing as well ?
Rotorua is one I know of, also super good value. Less than $10 a lift to get to the top & combined it with a run on the luge to finish off the day.Pretty sure I've ridden them all... the only lift serviced bike park I've ridden is Thredbo.
Ok, I'll just need to go to Rotorua to make my statement correct then! I wonder if MTB is the main reason they put it in or like most things an afterthought to other activities/general tourism.Rotorua is one I know of, also super good value. Queenstown is another that doesn't cater for skiing ( a heap of other stuff up top for non-riders though).Rotorua is one I know of, also super good value. Less than $10 a lift to get to the top & combined it with a run on the luge to finish off the day.

Was ready to bag this out, but it seems to be making sense. Some more family friendly green trails and flow trails, ability to get single lifts offset with dedicated jump trails and still have some harder tech etc. I know on Gavelburn we like to bag out the dumbing down of the gnar but that's whats going to bring in the punters. If they do this and have trails that make sense and have themes (i.e. make it a flow trail / jump trail / tech etc and stick with it) there is room for all riding types, which hopefully includes some harder stuff, but sign it as such and hopefully the enduro bros will keep of it. You wont have a mountain that is all double blacks but hopefully it can run at a profit and actually get maintained as well as providing something for everyone. That is something I'd pay a premium for.
Seems I'm feeling optimistic today, no doubt I'll flip back to my normal state of mind and bag this out later
