Nannup! New (old) MTB destination + Dwellingup + Collie

Ok so I FINALLY got a chance to ride Nannup since it was opened recently and WA crew, drop what you are doing and head there! It is something seriously special for our state. Is it Derby, well not quite, but it's brilliant. Rode 2 days over 50km's and over 2,100m of climbing. You may have seen this AMB mag vid of WA places
Nannup starts at 5.19.

Can honestly say that WA is now worth a trip, get a local to take you to the Valley/Mundaring around Perth. Head to Collie and Wellington Mills, Nannup, Pemberton and Margs it would make a great week riding.
PS don't come in January it can be quite warm

Wonder if I can talk the Mrs into dropping me off for a spin while we’re in Dunsborough next week. I’m sure she’ll happily look after the three psychopaths while I’m out having fun.

Not sure if everyone has been following Flow's latest road trip to WA but things have been good here the last couple of years. Throw in Margs, Linga Longa, Dwellingup I can honestly say WA has some great riding that would easily keep you busy for a week or two.

Having done the recent trip to Narooma and Eden I would say at least on par with those places. It's not Derby and we don't have the elevation that is available elsewhere but trail quality is worth a visit if travelling with your bike is something you like to do. Also I'm certainly biased but I love the South West, awesome beaches, great vineyards, great forests, it's a cracking part of the planet.

It is great but it's so fucking far away from anywhere.

That has helped keep the population and amount of visitors down, but is changing of late. At the current rate we will soon have too many people like the few east coast cities I've visited.

But we have great wine....oh wait...

We do have better beaches (from the very limited NZ beaches I have seen) ...

NZ has hot springs.

NZ wines are overrated. WA is making some ripping good chenin blanc and Chardonnay.

WA has pee gravel...everywhere. NZ has dirt, hero dirt.

@ashes_mtb
When I lived over your way I was once taken to some old dh tracks out around there...my reason for living in wa had parents at Donnybrook and her brother had been into dh. They were pretty fun and not too pee gravel heavy once you got away from the start area.

Sounds like Welli Mills, guys are building bigger and crazier features there, top has pea gravel but the rest is good.

Sounds familiar...top was a few small fun jumps wrapped around a car park all gravel, then quickly into some pines and much better surface materials.

Google maps show me the garden gnome thing in the area, which was odd but amusing.

Yeah, that’s Welli Mills. They used it for the Enduro Nationals earlier in the year along with Welli Dam.

And pea gravel is the best.
