How did you go sanding a carbon ?

Seems dodgy!
Seems Dodgy????? please explain

i started it myself using wet/dry sandpaper

but i had to have an operation on my wrist so i ended up paying someone to finish it and clear coat it. (still havent had a chance to ride it yet) :( :(

there is little imperfections in the carbon from when it came out of the mold and merida just filled them with paint and the joining of the main tubes isn't the smoothest either, its amazing what i little bit of paint hides.

But im happy with how it looks, im thinking of doing the same to the fork

My Yeti AS-R. Purchased a frame late last year to replace my old faithful Trek Y-11. I love the way it rides and that I've got a bike brand that was high on the list of dream bikes.

Slowly building it up to the way I like it, *trying* to keep a low budget...

Frame: 2009 Yeti AS-R, large, signed by Jared Graves
Headset: Cane Creek
Fork: RS Reba SL
Bars: Easton Carbon
Stem: Easton 90mm
Drivetrain: SLX Cranks, 32tooth Widgit, XT med rear derr, SLX shifter, 9spd XT cassette, 11-28 for training and general riding, 11-34 for enduros, XTR Chain
Brakes: Juicy 7 with 180mm front and 160mm rear.
Wheels: dodgy ebay rims, saving for new wheelset.
Sitting: SDG Bel Air Ti rail saddle + Kore carbon seatpost.
Tyres: Maxxis Crossmark ATM.
With the boat anchor wheels it's a smidge over 12kg, it's built to be ridden, not win the weight weenie challenge.

Finished the Foes rebuild - rides rather nicely it does!

Needs to find a new home though - I already have too many bikes!

Yeti ARC

Sorry about the iPhone photos, I don't have a camera handy.

This lil' fella is my second Yeti. The first one (may it rest in peace) was a large which was a touch too big, the medium is much more my size.

Currently 9.99kg with a super reliable build. Loving the new 685mm wide Easton handlebar, amazing level of control with the additional width.

I'm looking at going 2x9 soon with a RaceFace Next SL crankset so will hopefully be down to around 9.7kg. I'm not really a weight weenie, which is lucky, the frame itself is 1.6kg which is pretty heavy for a hardtail. In the real world though, the handling of the Yeti is amazing and lets me ride way beyond my ability.

The only bike I would change it for would be a carbon Yeti ARC.

WOW, LOOKS PREEEEETY

Down to XC buisness, how much does she weigh?

The frame reminds me of the 2005 Specialized Enduro (I rode one for 4 years - it was probably my fave bike frame I have ever owned - I know the suspension system is probably nothing alike, it just got me reminiscing)

At least 13kg, but like all good bikes, rides light. There's magic in that Curnutt damper - it's got bugger-all pedal feedback yet is plush when you want it to be.

Oh - and cheers Stevob!
