Thanks, I love it. Selle San Marco Aspide - Firm but fair.
I've got a Sele Italia SLR. best thing other than a Flite i have ever used. I've sat on Gobi's for almost a year and then i swaped. Never going back:D. Until it snaps like the one i saw at GMBC crazy 6 hour.(how did he manage that??)
How much does your s-works weigh?
check out my beast on pg 107.

My new Alfined HT!

Hey y'all,
Just finished this off on the weekend!!! Internal gear hubs for the win!!

It's a 2007 Trek 8500 hardtail frame with shimano Alfine gearing.

Sorry, but no pros/cons at the moment, maybe in a couple of weeks. But I did conquer the biggest hill in Hobart on it yesterday ;)

Too right

I see you're running full length gear cables, surely there's a few grams that can be shaved right there! :p
Too right, in the end it must be an enhancement though and just imagine all that dust that'd collect and weigh down the bike and slow shifting.. pffft.

Well it's been near on several weeks since build up and the bike is still amazing me. Probably not so much "the frame" itself but how a lite' bike can alter your thinking of what was speeds are possible when pedalling singletrack and climbing capabilities that you can obtain without going to granny.

I've ridden a 6hr with which I set my fastest laptime late in the day and have had numerous trailrides. This isn't supposed to be my everyday trailbike but I'm finding it hard to leave it at home as I find my BLT2 @ 28.6lbs too slow and heavy?

The last several weeks has also had me chasing grams (purchased a set of kitchen scales ) to try and get it a little lighter. A set of race only tyres (Schwalbe rocket ron for the front and racing ralph on the rear) saw an instant loss of 200g. With a change of brakes, seat, rear derailleur, bars and Ti bolts for the Thomson stem/seatpost/seatclamp/cranks etc. lost another 150g+.

I've also lost 80g by going 2x9 after some experimentation, settling on 36/22t simply because no tracks I ride is a 44t and the lower 3 on the cassette ever used. Besides I can spin a 36x11 up to 40kmh with a tailwind.

Anyway for the weight weenies here's some numbers.

Ready to ride - 23.6lbs
Without chainstay protect/bike comp - 23.2lbs
Without above and pedals - 22.6lbs

Nice ride Gripper... how do you find the Rocket Ron (F) and Racing Ralph (R) tyre combo? I've just set myself up with the same but in 2.25 UST both ends... I'm hoping they ride as well as the hype would suggest!

PS - Are they 26x2.25 on yours?

Good to see you left some room for upgrades... Pffft!

Have to say that, as an observer, the overall colour scheme utterly sucks, but at that weight (a full 20% less than my "race" bike) I wouldn't give a sh*t what colour it was, because you'll be going too fast for anyone to notice.

tudorsi,

That is no good, no good at all. You can't tease us with a (highly detailed) spec list and then put up no photo.

Please rectify - I want bike porn!
