XC race machine, Niner Air9
oh man - I'm loving that Air9. Luckily I have one order and will be racing it at a track somewhere soon!
Same colour too.
Win - have you ever put it on the scales? Any idea what it weighs? Oh, and I hope you're gonna tell me that its awesome. :D

10kg dead with X9 and No Tubes Raven tyres, yes it's awesome;)
I'm loving the Ventana too, who said you don't need rear suspension on
29ers, Warp speed in single track and rough trails:)

Still more changes to come but the missus has told me to stop spending money for a while.
Next up will be full XT drivetrain, lighter seat post, stem and bars, and wheelset. Any suggestions for the post, stem/bar combo and wheels???
This will only happen when I get the nod for the wife.

Last weekend when I was in Brisbane, I called throught Bums On Bikes at Kippa Ring. I saw a bike and was offered what sounded like a pretty nice deal...
It arrived yesterday.

A Merida Matts HFS 4000, 2008 model, for $2000.

Some of the specs I can remember offhand:
Frame; Merida Matts Alloy, 43cm- Silver
Wheels; Mavic Crossride disc
Fork; 2008 RockShox Reba SL 85mm w/PopLoc
Brakes; Avid Juicy 7- 185mm F, 160mm R rotors
Tyres; Maxxis Crossmark 2.1 Kevlar
Drivetrain; SRAM X9 shifters, front and rear mechs.
Crankset; FSA Team Issue Carbon
Pedals; Shimano M520

I'll try to post a pic tomorrow.

It's a very whippy bike, especially after my other two mountain bikes- An STP and a Reign!

I still haven't figured out the setup for the Reba; I've been spoilt by my Reign's super-simple setup! I suspect the fork and the wheelset might be the weakest links, and unfortunately, the most expensive to replace! Not to worry though, I don't think upgraditis is so severe yet, I haven't even had a chance to ride it in anger yet!

I had a 2008 HFS 3000D with XT all over. Fastest and lightest bike I've ever ridden.
I absolutely loved it and so did the bastard who broke my bike lock to get to it.
I reckon you will love your new machine.

The REBA is a bloody good fork - nothing to worry about there!

Think it's got +ve and -ve air chambers so that may help with the setup.

Good buy at $2K

Yep, I'll second that... REBA's are great, had them on my last bike and couldn't fault them. + and - air enables you to get your compression (sag) right, then basically you just use more or less '-' air to set them up for small bump or big bump compliance (eg, more '-' air to activate easier on smaller bumps and vica versa without affecting the overall compression). That's how it was on my 2005 REBA's anyway...

Thanks folks, I am very proud of my little fleet! I've got a Specialized Allez roadie too, but this isn't the place to show you that.

I hope I'm able to prove myself worthy of such fine bikes- especially later this year at the Scott 24Hr. Hopefully I'll be riding in a family team, which should be really fun.

Welcome to the Merida family. Nice bell!!!!!
These are good value bikes, in the sense that the quality is great, and the value is there.

As promised, here's the XTC C1 after some new bits:

Ritchey Carbon Bars and Stem
Ritchey Grips
RaceFace Next SL Carbon Seat post
Goby Seat

These are a couple of before and after shots at Lysterfield today.

As you can see, it was a little MUDDY!
