Thats a very nice bike !! Great understated look too ! How does it ride ?

Only thing is I'd be very surprised if the weight is 9.56 with those parts :-(

I dunno - the forks save about 900g over a set of Fox and the wheelset is decent eough. Put on a suspension fork and the weights comes up to 10.6kg which is about right for the spec I think.

Frame is kinda heavy though. Looks good but!

08 Cannondale rise 4

My 08 Rise 4 isn't a pure XC race bike but leans more towards all mountain/trail use. The specs are as follows-
2008 Cannondale RISE 4 frame 7000 hydroformed alloy with carbon chain stays. 130mm travel
Fox RP2 rear shock
Fox 32 RL Float fork 140mm travel with Lockout
JET BLACK XC Wheelset 9mm Q/R Front 135mm Rear
Thomson elite Post and Elite X4 100mm Stem
Truvativ NOIR Team Carbon bars
Avid Elixir R brakes with Jet black 160mm rotors F&R
Maxxis Larsen kevlar bead tyres and CST Superlight tubes
Shimano Deore XT Drivetrain.
11.3kgs with crankbrothers smarty pedals

She's a trail rocket that loves nothing more than ripping up my local Ourimbah singletrack.:D

Howdy fellas,

Just joined up on the advice of a fellow MTB rider, thought I would post up a pic of my ride and then go back a few pages for a history lesson.

Current ride is Ironhorse Bootleg3.0 only mods so far are Maxxis Highrollers and new grips.

Regards,

Matt.

Jet Black Rims

The Jet Black rims are really light and strong I've been using them for over 3 mths now and they haven't needed to be tensioned or checked. They're Tubeless compatiable which will be my next step and the hubs are some of the smoothest I've used. Very impressed.

I've heard other good reports about these wheels, but I'm not sure what "Tubeless Compatible" means. Do the rims have spoke holes? What makes them compatible?
I think it has something to do with the lip of the rim.

It could be that the cross section of the rim is designed with installing tyres without tubes in mind ??

Whatever it is , it's nice marketing !!!!! :D

I got a special deal on mine 4 550.00 thru my LBS. The retail on them is 700.00 but there are some awesome deals going if you look around so you should be able to save some money.

leaking out the other end
It has been a while so I thought I would post my updated bike :) A lot has changed since it was last posted, most notably the new Fizik Gobi XM carbon (anniversary present from my better half) and a Thomson Elite X4 80mm stem to shorten the cockpit by 20mm. The other major change is Racing Ralph tires which have really impressed me so far, but it's early days and I've heard they are not very durable.

Other minor changes include new Race Face chain rings, some Jet Black rotors, XT pedals and some Mavic 717s to replace the soft DT Swiss rims.

It has just had its 5000km birthday, not bad for its 17 month lifespan. For the weight weenies out there it is a rather porky 10.69kg.

Really the only other upgrade left to do is a nice set of wheels at the end of the year. Pictures were taken near my house on the top of Mt Nelson, around 300 meters above Hobart. Enjoy!
