^^^ Nice one, welcome to the club! I think you should have held for a few months though and got one with the new paint scheme, it looks pimp.

How cool is the steering lock thingy? Loved that when I was putting mine together, no more chipped top tubes.

That looks amazing!
Where did you get the condoms for your cranks from..? I need some for my pretty XX1 before they get beat up
He gets asked that question on a weekly basis, usually from me!

There's a link in his sale thread for his Merida 99.

With XX1. This thing rocks.
Hey Brownster, I notice you have Conti X-King and Race King tyres? How are you finding the combo?

I just bought the same ones in the 2.2 size and in the Protection versions but haven't fitted them yet.

Is that fork on backwards?

Protection sidewalls are seriously hard, were not my favourite tyre. Decent climbing grip though, just not the best when you lay the bike over
The fork is not on backwards, DT Swiss Suspension do things differently to most other brands

By "lay the bike over" are you referring to cornering? I kept reading about other versions (i.e. RaceSport) having weak sidewalls so erred on the side of caution.

OK, I always thought the brace went to the front.

picked up my near new XC/Commuter or an absolute steal !

Scott Scale 40 2009:

11.47 as is, but aiming for a sub 11kg build by:

- going 1x (lose rings, mech, cable and shifter)
- ditching old heavy Juicy 3.5's for new style Deore brakes
- running a smaller front rotor (180 -> 160)
- lighter stem (but wider bar)
- bottle cage delete
- chopping excess seatpost

complete build to follow soon
