I just recently brought my first hardtail frame and took it into the bike shop to have some old headset cups removed.

While i was in there i asked about a seat post and what size, the guy in the bike shop measured and told me it was a 30.9mm post.
So brought a 30.9mm seat post and it dose not fit it seems to be to big, i tried a little grase around the inside rim of the seat post on the bike but still no go.

So i want to know what i can do about this maybe get a smaller seat post and if so what size should i get?

If it healps i have a 07 kona shread frame.

Cheers matt.

Sanity is not statistical
You'll probably find you need a 30.0mm seatpost as that is the seatpost size most commonly used by Kona.

Yeah sounds like it is definately too big. You should just take the other post back to the shop, especially if the guy there actually measured it for you and told you that size. See what they say, should definately get a full refund/swap for the right size IMO
