Once upon a time philosophers debated the big questions, what's the universe made of? Where did we come from and why are we here?What ever happened to philosophy as a profession?
It went hand in hand with physics. Philosophers came up with an idea Scientists tested it.
Now the Physics has bounded too far ahead. Cutting edge physics is highly specialised and requires freakish maths so it's difficult for other scientists not in that field to begin to understand.
As a result all that is left for philosophers is to sit around debating the meaning of words and the morality of pigs (No offense Spanky)
