I did a quick search, and nothing popped up in this thread, but www.jomashop.com has quite a few deals weekly/monthly, and might be worth a look for those of you looking for a new watch, but can't bring yourself to fork out retail.
My wife has one - it's has lasted ages.About to go fork out the cash (albeit not a huge amount) for one of these: http://www.nixon.com/au/en/mens/watches/the-player-A140.html?sku=A1401062-00
Been looking at them for the last 10 years and since then have never found a watch that appeals to me in such a minimalistic and stylish way. They're well-priced and suitable in all situations.
I sense this watch nonsense is about to become an addiction.
Yep, Audemars Piguet make unbelievable watches! Pretty certain their Royal Oak Offshore Diver is going to be my first high end watch purchase in the not too distant future.Got a raging hard on for Audemars Piguet at the moment. Base model watches start at $16k, many in the $250k+ range. Serious wristporn.
I felt the same way at first, but it grew on me so quickly. The look's what everyone loves as it's so iconic. It basically hasn't changed since it was first unveiled in the early '70's. The Royal Oak Offshore is a much more modern spin on the design, but then again, that's why many people arn't big fans of the Offshore line. Not a fan of the Audemars Piquet. I first saw pics of it on a watch forum and there was heaps of love for it but personally I can't quite get over that intense 80's look.
If you're going to start getting into watches, I wouldn't buy a quartz. It will be forever left in a drawer the moment you discover the beauty of mechanical watches.About to go fork out the cash (albeit not a huge amount) for one of these: http://www.nixon.com/au/en/mens/watches/the-player-A140.html?sku=A1401062-00

I have a Nixon Esquire CS. While I like nice watches, I don't care for hand made. The Nixon has been a fantastic watch and over the 7 years I've had it it hasn't missed a beat. Hand made generally drift more than quartz. I'm more into watches for what they look like rather than having a window that shows me the tiny movement pieces and for how they work as a watch. Not even paying $250,000 guarantees you a good looking watch, and I get lots of people commenting on my (pesky) Nixon watch. If you're going to start getting into watches, I wouldn't buy a quartz. Yep, for what they are, which has is basically a fashion watch, the Nixons are awesome. I have a Duke which I picked up for $40 at a creditors sale, for dressy and a GTO for when I go full hardcore. Had em both for 10 years, one battery change and never missed a beat.I have a Nixon Esquire CS. While I like nice watches, I don't care for hand made. I'm sure you'll be more than happy with the Nixon.
I think you mean mechanical. You can buy both quartz and mechanical either hand made or mass produced. Mechanical definitely do drift more than quartz, be they hand made or mass produced.I have a Nixon Esquire CS. While I like nice watches, I don't care for hand made. I was referring to another user who dismissed quarts all together. The Nixon I have is a lot nicer than the $50-$100 ones I've seen. Not just in appearance (subjective) but it is very solid and the face has resisted any scratches with seven years use and not well cared for.I think you mean mechanical. If all someone is after is just a nice looking (fashion) watch, I wouldn't be spending any more than $50-100 tops. Online and the second hand market has thousands of them.
Nope, not saying that. Stop trying to pick a fight and take a chill pill.I was referring to another user who dismissed quarts all together. So what you're saying is that unless it's handmade, there is no diff in quality between a $50 watch and $400 watch?
That's plain wrong.
How am I trying to 'pick a fight'Nope, not saying that. Stop trying to pick a fight and take a chill pill.
uh huh....Mechanical definitely do drift more than mechanicals,....
Er, quite.Mechanical definitely do drift more than mechanicals, be they hand made or mass produced.

Nothing wrong with a Swatch. They make some brilliant limited editions. I have a 007 40th anaversiary Dr. No limited that I'm rather fond of.I like Swatch's, so .... :behindsofa:
