Picked this old girl up today. Just moved so have quite the list of stuff to do so need to build to tools back up after years of not making anything.

I have the same. Get a piece of 50x19 straight hardwood and screw it to the fence. You may need to space it (I did). Gives a much better edge to cut against and the gap is just a kerf wide. There are adjustment screws so do that until it is true sideways and upsy downsy. My push button may have been sheared off in a freak tightrope walking accident but a golf tee suffices.

I had one of these for about 10years. Ls1013. It was the most bulletproof and simple tool I owned. Was used and abused as a worksite saw and still stayed square. Had the button mod of a bit of spaghetti jammed in.
Only sold it as I moved overseas.
when I came back I bought the new fancy updated model. Biggest tool disappointment ever. Impossible to keep square, hard to adjust, frustrating to use, overly heavy to be dragging in and out of a ute and the dust extraction is terrible. Only thing that I like is the dual rails so it doesn’t project from the rear. Hate it.
You can tell the old Japanese designed saws were designed by people that knew how they would be used. The new model was designed by soft handed engineers out of university with zero idea. ZERO!!
I still occasionally look on marketplace sentimentally looking for one in good nick.
