@beeb If using a file works for you, have at it. I just don't think it's adequate for the job. YMMV
Have done it twice in the past, it's really not that hard to do. I run Hope brakes with minimal pad clearance, so it's pretty easy to see which way it needs to be skimmed.

Same, also used a file on the top of mounts when required.
Even filed the inside of the PM back in the day when the rivets on Hope floating rotors used to rub the mount. A quick stroke with a black permanent texter and the bare alu was back to black

After a bit of fiddling, above is the result.
SRAM GX derailleur & cassette.
The slot for the cassette teeth was way to tight, I ended up placing 3 bladed screwdrivers in it & leaving overnight.
Providing you have a baseline to compare, it works as advertised.
if it's printed in PLA, can probably make it soft enough with hairdryer to spread permanently..
could be ABS, then same bit slightly high temp

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, we rode 26er, hi-tech was 2 x 10 & rim brakes existed.
Lovely tool to remove/install bearings in bottom brackets, however you still needed a vice.
Beautifully machined, plus you can't go wrong with red anodizing.

I have a knack for finding tools on the road. It's been a good year so far with a Milwaukee battery drill, and a SnapOn work light. People just drive past stuff. Other finds in recent years were a Kinchrome ratchet spanner, and a brand new Makita angle grinder in the box.

You sound like a dock-worker @Scotty T!

"Honest boss, the container was already open when we got here! No way of telling how many have been knicked!" 🫣

I promise these were actual items that fell off the back of trucks driven by tradies who haven't learnt to put all their tools away. The drill and work lgiht have both taken a good beating before they came to me. The angle grinder, I think someone flogged that off a truck then dumped it in the carpark where I found it.

Keep your eyes peeled, there's toolbox gold on them streets!

i got excited when almost driving over a bright orange and black thing on the road today...
"Maybe this is one of those Scotty T moments???"

dust pan brush..... 🫤

Goddamit. I stepped over a nail remover on the side of the road on Mission Beach last week. "I'll grab that on the way back" thinks I, cos it would be super useful removing trim clips in the tractors.

Then I walked back to the car from the opposite direction.

This thread just reminded me I was going to pick it up.

Dammit to hell.

Only things I have found in my travels are a (working) Eveready Dolphin torch floating in a pool in a creek when I was about 10 (still have it and it still works) and most recently a 290mm long (160mm blade) SOG Tsunami knife laying in the grass beside the footpath when walking the doggos a few weeks ago.
