Self confessed tool nerd.
This is my latest, & yes I know I could use a steel ruler or any straight edge.

Interesting. Shimano 12sp MTB derailleur cages are not parallel/square with the cassette by design..

Hmmmm, I think they missed a zero or two there... Only $20 for an Abbey product? Surely they jest!

My pride and joy is a Cyclus BSA cutting and facing tool.

Hmm, i've been waiting for something like this but as above, maybe they aren't designed to be parallel.. But.....if you've checked the hanger and it's straight and things are still askew - the cage is bent, so i just bend it until every gear across the range changes right on "the click" (with the b-screw in the right place first obviously)

So.. is the angle away from parallel known?

Yeah Shimano XT/XTR, the cage looks bent off parallel and the 2 jockeys are slightly off whack too. I was like 'you gotta be joking me', I've had it in the box of 6 weeks and the first time I looked at it was just before I was fitting it (Deviate IIRC), a quick BoBo and it became clear it was meant to be like that.

sorry, i edited post, as probably not cool to dupe tools.... (but cost almost nothing to make.. )
but.. easy to 3D print ones with the correct angle required (or have an add on with different angles)

Ooft - big investment. I'd love a disc facing tool....
Currently in that space myself. The only generally available options seem to be the Park Tool dt-5.2 disc brake mount facing set, or the Super B one that's a few hundred less. There is a VAR set, but it's about $1200AUD before post, and import/GST reaming takes place.

Anyone used the Park Tool dt-5.2 ? I'm a bit off the Super B one after watching the video and seeing the bad spelling and translation, and the tool looks fkn wonky in operation on the YT video.

I use one of these when I need to face disc mounts (Clicky link)

Funny @beeb that you linked a file. I was pretty surprised that at least locally it seems difficult to find a shop that does disc facing and that most just file them by hand. I guess it's better than nothing when you need to build something up and you need to get the paint build up off, but personally I have no confidence that I could get the mount perpendicular to the axle.

@ForkinGreat there is this gem from Cyclus too that's similar to the VAR. At least this one should be more compatible with frames with the shorter overhang.

Saw that, at $2200AUD locally, it makes the VAR kit look like a bargain. Cheapest I've seen the VAR tool is $1200, before import/GST?postage reaming. o_O

The Cyclus and VAR facing tools do both mounts together, which takes some of the fiddle-fuckery out, which is good, just at a cost which is hundreds or a thousand or more $$$ more exxy than the Park Tool kit.

@beeb If using a file works for you, have at it. I just don't think it's adequate for the job. YMMV

Thats half a bike, or a fifth of a bike for those in the e-eeb community.

Although for those looking for the 'Utlimate' tool.
There is an ebike dyno

Not as exciting at a car dyno but you could claim 'King of Wattpower'

I also saw one of these the other day and its every bit as awesome as it looks, beer can in one hand whilst the bike went up, no back strain, the only strain was the front tyre fitting but Im sure there will soon be a tyre fitting device. Has anyone bought one yet?
